Protest by Tehran bus drivers outside municipality office

NCRI – Some 400 drivers and workers of the Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company held a protest this week in front of the Tehran City Hall and Council Chamber to demand their housing arrears.

The workers’ families attend the demonstration, which began at 10 am on Tuesday, August 2, according to eye-witness reports.

Protesters waved placards denouncing financial corruption by the mullahs’ regime that read: “Homelessness, high costs and inflation are workers’ share of the revolution. Astronomical pay is your [regime’s] share” and “Share of directors from the revolution, several hundred million in salaries / workers’ share, homelessness!”

The protesters also chanted slogans such as: “We don’t want incompetent managers,” “Managers betray, the mayor supports” and “False promises, astronomical pay,” venting their outrage at the regime.

The demonstrators also called for the removal of the Managing Director of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company.

Many of the protesting workers have registered since 2009 for the co-op housing project but due to the failing economy and astronomical plundering by the authorities, this project has only been developed by 40 percent.
