Dominique Attias, prominent French lawyer and President of the Administrative Council of the European Lawyers Foundation, was officially awarded the prestigious title of Officier de la Légion d’Honneur (Officer of the Legion of Honor) during a ceremony held on Thursday, April 10, at the Paris Bar Association.

The event gathered distinguished legal figures, including Paris Bar President Pierre Hoffman and Vice President Vanessa Boussard, along with members of the Paris legal community and other notable guests. A delegation from the Iranian Resistance was also in attendance.

“This is a true honor,” said Boussard in her tribute. “I’m not afraid to say you’ve been a role model for us—for me in particular—as Vice President of the Paris Bar. You fulfilled your responsibilities with perseverance and determination, but also with the grace that defines you. You’ve stayed true to all your commitments. Everyone knows your role in defending the vulnerable, especially children.”

Dominique Attias served as Vice President of the Paris Bar from 2015 to 2017 and later became President of the Council of European Bars (CCBE) from 2021 to 2022, an institution representing more than one million lawyers across Europe. She has long been recognized for her unwavering commitment to justice, children’s rights, and the defense of fundamental freedoms.

In 2011, Attias received the Chevalier (Knight) of the Legion of Honor. Her promotion to Officier, one of the highest civilian distinctions in France, was announced in the Journal Officiel on July 9, 2024, by decree of the President of the Republic.

On social media, Attias wrote:“And here you go, Twitter friends… I wanted to share the joy of being decorated Officer of the Legion of Honor. Opening the door for women—so many are deserving.”

Dominique Attias has been a steadfast advocate for human rights, particularly in defending the rights of Iranian women and political prisoners. Her support for the Iranian Resistance underscores her commitment to justice and the rule of law. Attias has consistently emphasized the importance of international solidarity in supporting those who fight for freedom and democracy in Iran.
