Hanging in Iran condemned in Copenhagen gathering

NCRI – In a gathering outside the office of the Amnesty International in Copenhagen on Monday, August 6, Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance expressed their deep concern over the new wave of executions in Iran.
Participants held banners condemning growing suppression in Iran and calling on the international community to act immediately to stop barbaric executions which are carried out in public everyday.

Executions and brutal suppression stepped up in Iran following widespread protests which has been going on for the past few months. The regime was particularly emboldened by EU’s recent decision to re-designate the main Iranian opposition, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), in the list of banned organization in total defiance of the EU Court ruling.

At least 25 people were executed last week in Iran according to state-run media. A number of them were political prisoners who were hanged as common criminals.

Organizers of the Copenhagen gathering plan to go on with their protest through the week.
