Iran-U.S.: A move in U.S. to remove PMOI’s terror label – Arab daily

Al-Hayat Pan-Arab Daily Published in London A pan-Arab daily Al-Hayat, in its October 22 issue, reporting on a briefing about Iran which took place on Capitol Hill on October 20, said: “The U.S. Congress increased its activities against the Iranian regime this week by twice receiving Iranian opposition groups in the House of Representatives and listening to Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi via satellite from Paris.”

Al-Hayat said that in her speech, Rajavi warned of the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq to create a "Shiite Islamic Empire" in the region.

Maryam Rajavi’s remarks on the blacklisting of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran on the U.S. State Department’s terror list are made following two meetings this week on U.S. options to confront the Iranian regime in the House of Representatives, the daily said.

Some informed sources have told Al-Hayat that there was a disagreement between the Pentagon and the State Department on labeling the PMOI as a foreign terrorist organization. The Pentagon is pressing for removal of this group from the terror list after the PMOI unveiled intelligence on Iran’s nuclear arsenal, the daily added.
