Iranians rally in Gothenburg against siege on Camp Liberty

NCRI – Iranians in Sweden on Wednesday held a picket line to condemn the inhumane siege on thousands of members of the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, PMOI (Mujahedin-e Khalq, MEK), in Camp Liberty, Iraq.

The rally by supporters of the PMOI (MEK) in Gothenburg urged the United Nations and the United States government to abide by their international obligations to protect the Camp Liberty residents.

“The Camp Liberty medical siege must be condemned,” read one of the banners held by the Iranians at the picket line.

Another banner urged the international community to force the Iraqi government to lift the “inhumane siege” at Camp Liberty.

The Iraqi committee in charge of suppressing Camp Liberty residents, supervised by Iraq’s National Security Advisor Faleh Fayyad, has intensified the blockade of Camp Liberty simultaneous with the transfer of a group of agents of the Iranian Intelligence Ministry and the terrorist Quds Force on September 7 and 10 to the camp.

Iraqi forces on Wednesday prevented four residents with appointments for eye-surgery from going to a hospital in Baghdad. The appointments had been made a long time in advance.
