On May 31, 2025, during an international conference in Paris focused on shaping a new global policy toward Iran, Italian Member of Parliament Naike Gruppioni delivered a powerful and emotional speech. She emphasized that the occasion was not just a political act but a moral stance in solidarity with the Iranian people’s long struggle for freedom.
She proudly announced that a significant number of Italian lawmakers, from all political backgrounds, had signed a formal declaration backing the Iranian Resistance and Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan. This plan envisions a secular and democratic Iran without the death penalty, where women have equal rights, elections are free, and human dignity is upheld.
Gruppioni praised the courage of Iranian women leading the Resistance — often at great personal cost — as a global example. She emphasized the crucial role of Resistance Units in reshaping Iran from within, affirming that the Italian Parliament sends them a clear message: you are not alone.
She called for the next essential step — political and institutional recognition of the National Council of Resistance of Iran as a legitimate and credible partner for a democratic future. The dream of a free Iran, she affirmed, is no longer utopian — it is a tangible, achievable goal.
A translated version of the speech follows.
Oggi a #FreeIran ho ribadito il sostegno al piano di Maryam Rajavi: un Iran libero, laico, senza pena di morte, con pari diritti per le donne.
È ora di riconoscere il #CNRI come interlocutore legittimo.

Thank you. Dear President-elect, Mrs. Rajavi, dear colleagues, distinguished guests, and you courageous Iranian citizens who are following us from every part of the world. It is with profound emotion and a deep sense of responsibility that I take the floor today.
What we are celebrating today is not only a political event; it is a moral stance, a concrete act of solidarity with a people who have long been fighting against tyranny and who deserve freedom.
With immense pride, I announce that a significant number of members of the Italian Parliament, from all political groups, have signed an official declaration in support of the Iranian Resistance and Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan.
This is a historic step, a strong signal that crosses political differences and speaks with one voice: Italy stands on the side of freedom.
Mrs. Rajavi’s plan is not just a political program. It is a bright vision: a secular, democratic Iran without the death penalty. An Iran where women have equal rights, where elections are free and transparent, where human dignity is finally respected.
It is a dream that, today, thanks to the strength of the Resistance and the leadership of Mrs. Rajavi, is becoming a concrete possibility.
Italian MP @naike_gruppioni: Many Italian MPs signed a declaration backing @Maryam_Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan—a clear sign Italy stands for freedom. It’s a vision of democracy, no death penalty, and free, fair elections where women live free.#NCRIAlternative…

As an Italian, as a woman, and as a mother, I cannot help but feel deeply close to this struggle. The strength of the Iranian women who are leading the Resistance — often paying an extremely high price — is an example for the entire world.
The Iranian Resistance, its Resistance Units, is changing the face of Iran from within. And today, the Italian Parliament sends them a clear message: you are not alone.
But now, one more step is necessary: the beginning of official political and institutional recognition of the National Council of Resistance of Iran as a legitimate and credible interlocutor for a democratic future in Iran.
This is a choice of responsibility, consistency, and respect for a struggle that rejects violence and proposes an alternative based on the universal values of freedom and human rights.
The road to a free Iran is long and difficult, but it is no longer an unattainable dream.
It is a concrete possibility, and we must support it. We are here to once again declare our commitment and firmly say that the freedom of the Iranian people matters to us — their hopes are our hopes, too.
Honor to the Iranian Resistance and to those who fight for freedom.
Long live a free, just Iran at peace with the world.
Thank you, Mrs. Rajavi. Thank you, dear friends. Thank you.
