Speaking at the third session of the Free Iran World Summit 2025 in Rome, Italian Senator Lucio Malan, President of the Fratelli d’Italia group in the Senate, expressed unwavering support for the Iranian Resistance and its leader, Maryam Rajavi. In a speech marked by admiration and moral clarity, Senator Malan praised Rajavi as a source of inspiration not only for the Iranian people but for all who cherish freedom worldwide.
Drawing a contrast between the daily risks faced by Iranian dissidents and the relative ease of preserving democracy in countries like Italy, he emphasized that defending freedom in Iran strengthens liberty everywhere. Recalling the foiled 2018 terrorist plot against a Free Iran rally in Paris—linked to an Iranian diplomat—Senator Malan condemned the regime’s ongoing support for global terrorism and domestic repression. He urged the international community to back Iran’s freedom movement, warning that the regime’s influence brings not culture and prosperity, but war, discrimination, and destruction.
Senator Malan reaffirmed his and his party’s support for Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, calling it a democratic platform rooted in universal values. “By supporting it in Iran,” he concluded, “we also support these values in our own countries.”

Thank you very much.
It’s a great honor to be here with these distinguished panelists, who are truly great figures in international politics. It is a big honor. Mayor Giuliani, we have met several times before. And it is an especially great honor to be here with President Charles Michel, one of the greatest figures in European politics, and all the other distinguished panelists.
But I say, it is a very great honor to be here with President Maryam Rajavi, who inspires not only the freedom-loving Iranian patriots, but all who love freedom must be thankful to President Maryam Rajavi and to all of you who support her. You are an example with your endeavor and your constancy in supporting freedom in your country. You are an inspiration for all who love freedom in their own country, whether it is to keep the freedom where it already exists, like in Italy, or to conquer freedom where it does not exist today, like in Iran.
The fact that so many people are here, along with many people connected [via video link] from Iran offering their lives and their effort to free their country, is a great inspiration. For us, it is much easier to protect freedom. We have to be proud of our democratic institutions and ensure they are running at their best. Here we have a group of mayors who do their best in their own towns and cities. But it is another thing when, like in Iran and for many of you even here in Europe, you put your own lives at risk.

We remember very well that a few years ago in Paris, there was an attempt to place a bomb in the big rally that many of us, including myself, attended. We later found out that an Iranian diplomat was involved in this shameful attempt. We know how important this is. And it is important not only for the freedom of Iran and for the freedom of all people—because when one person is not free, nobody is completely free—but it is also important because of the role that today’s Iranian regime, the mullahs’ regime, plays in supporting international terrorism. It supports activities that have nothing to do with the welfare of the Iranian people, which should be the duty and objective of all actions of the government in Tehran.
[By] protecting and supporting those who want freedom in Iran, we protect international peace and promote stability in the entire area where Iran has, and has always had, a big influence. This influence should be, as it has been for many centuries, used to increase prosperity, improve culture, and advance human progress. Instead, today it is an influence that brings war, destruction, and discrimination against women, minorities, and political opponents in Iran.

Everybody should be thankful to Maryam Rajavi and to the organization that she leads. We have given our support to the Ten-Point Plan for Iran because it is a platform that can be supported by anyone who loves freedom, democracy, and equality among human beings. By supporting it in Iran, we also support these values in our own countries.
Thank you for all that you are doing. Thank you for your endeavor. Thank you to all those who gave their lives for freedom. We must be thankful to them. We will keep supporting you. We are very grateful to you.
