A majority of members of the Scottish Parliament, including nine ministers and ten committee chairs, have issued a powerful declaration in support of Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan and the Iranian people’s right to overthrow the ruling clerical dictatorship. The statement calls for the terrorist designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and affirms the right of MEK Resistance Units inside Iran to actively resist the regime’s repressive forces.

The Scottish lawmakers expressed deep alarm over the worsening human rights crisis in Iran, citing over 1,000 executions in 2024 alone, including the sentencing of nine political prisoners for alleged ties to the MEK. The statement condemns the regime’s “Hijab and Chastity Law” as a tool to enforce compulsory hijab and crush dissent, especially among women and youth who have led anti-regime protests since the 2022 uprising.

The signatories stressed that the Iranian people, through their nationwide uprisings, have rejected both monarchy and theocracy, calling instead for a secular, democratic republic. They underscored the urgent need for a policy shift that puts the Iranian people and their organized resistance at the center of international engagement with Iran.

Drawing a parallel to recent regional developments, the declaration states: “The collapse of Hezbollah’s influence and the fall of the Syrian dictator have severely weakened Tehran.” Appeasement, they warn, only strengthens the regime’s repressive apparatus and emboldens its terrorist and nuclear ambitions.

In this context, the parliamentarians emphasized that international recognition of the Iranian people’s right to regime change is not only justified but necessary. They highlighted the Resistance Units’ pivotal role in challenging the regime from within and demanded their right to resist the IRGC be recognized as legitimate.

The declaration also endorses Maryam Rajavi’s democratic platform, which calls for the abolition of the death penalty, gender equality, religious freedom, and a non-nuclear, democratic Iran. Its rallying cries— “No to compulsory hijab, no to compulsory religion, no to dictatorship”—have gained international traction.

This support aligns with growing global momentum. In June 2024, more than 4,000 lawmakers and over 100 former world leaders endorsed Rajavi’s roadmap for a democratic Iran. The Scottish MPs now join this chorus, urging governments worldwide to stand with the Iranian people and their organized resistance, rather than investing in a collapsing regime.

Their message is clear: resistance is a right, and regime change is a moral and strategic necessity.
