In a significant show of international support for Iran’s democratic movement, a majority of members in the Welsh Parliament (Senedd Cymru) have signed a joint statement backing the Ten-Point Plan of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). The declaration, endorsed by 43 of 62 Members of the Senedd, including Presiding Officer Elin Jones, party leaders, and committee chairs, marks a strong stance in favor of human rights and democratic change in Iran.
The statement, titled Free Iran 2025, reaffirms support for the Iranian people’s struggle to establish a secular and democratic republic. It condemns the repression inside Iran, including forced veiling and state executions, and urges international recognition of the Iranian people’s right to resist tyranny.
“The Iranian people in their 2022 uprising rejected all forms of dictatorship—monarchical or theocratic—and demanded a democratic republic,” the statement reads. It highlights the NCRI’s political platform, which includes a firm commitment to gender equality, the abolition of the death penalty, religious freedom, and the separation of religion and state.

The statement calls on democratic governments worldwide to support the Iranian opposition and its call for justice. It states: “The Iranian Resistance, through Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan, presents a roadmap for a free and peaceful Iran.”
Signatories further called for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to be designated a terrorist organization and for international recognition of the right of Iran’s Resistance Units to stand against the IRGC. “Experience in Syria has shown that regimes like Tehran and Damascus, despite their propaganda, are vulnerable to collapse,” the signatories noted.
This support from Wales follows similar endorsements from parliamentary majorities in dozens of other countries, part of a growing international consensus that appeasement has failed and a principled policy toward Iran must center on the aspirations of its people and the NCRI’s democratic platform.
