Canadian MP Judy Sgro Welcomes IRGC Terrorist Designation and Stresses Continued Support for Iranian People

In a recent interview with Simay Azadi TV, Judy Sgro, the Chair of the International Trade Committee of the Canadian Parliament and former Minister of Immigration, highlighted the Canadian government’s decision to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. This move, she noted, aligns with long-standing information provided by the Iranian opposition and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) about the IRGC’s terrorist activities both within Iran and internationally.

“I am Judy Sgro, a Member of Parliament from Humber River-Black Creek, located in Toronto, and I am pleased to speak with you, the Iranian community, and especially the people of Iran who continue to suffer under a very oppressive regime,” Sgro stated in the interview.

She emphasized the significant impact of the IRGC’s actions across the Middle East and beyond, including its detrimental effects on the Iranian people. “The IRGC has caused immense harm throughout the Middle East and has had a devastating impact on many people,” Sgro said. She also highlighted key points of IRGC’s involvement in various destructive activities:

  1. Terrorist Training Camps: The IRGC operates terrorist training camps within Iran.
  2. Drone Attacks: The IRGC has supplied drones used to attack the people of Ukraine and others in the Middle East suffering from the ongoing conflict.
  3. PS752 Tragedy: The downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752, which resulted in the death of 176 passengers, including at least 55 Canadians.
  4. Support for Proxy Groups: Public admissions by the IRGC of providing training and financial support to other proxy groups in the Middle East.

“We know that the IRGC is responsible for much of the ongoing destruction and killings in the Middle East, affecting Palestinians, Israelis, and other innocent people,” Sgro affirmed. She expressed her satisfaction with the Canadian government’s decision to list the IRGC as a terrorist organization, recognizing it as a crucial step toward promoting peace and security.

In her message, Sgro also conveyed urgent advice from Canada’s Foreign Minister for any Canadians in Iran to leave the country, given the absence of a Canadian embassy and the lack of available support. “To everyone watching, particularly those still living in Iran, please stay safe. This is another step towards eliminating the oppressive regime and establishing a truly democratic government to represent and protect the people,” she urged.

Judy Sgro concluded by expressing her gratitude and anticipation of continued engagement with the Iranian community. “Thank you very much, and I look forward to seeing many of you,” she said.
