German MP Bernd Riexinger Calls for Global Action to Halt Executions of Six Political Prisoners in Iran

Bernd Riexinger, a member of the German Federal Parliament and former leader of the Die Linke group in the Bundestag, has issued a strong condemnation of the Iranian regime following the sentencing of six political dissidents to death. Riexinger has urged the international community to act decisively to prevent these executions, which he described as part of the regime’s broader campaign of repression and terror.

“The bloody terrorist regime in Iran continues to murder, torture, and persecute political dissidents,” Riexinger said in a public statement. The six opposition members have been accused of affiliations with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), organizing uprisings, and endangering national security. Riexinger asserts that the true aim is to silence dissent and perpetuate the regime’s arbitrary rule.

Riexinger emphasized the urgency of the situation, calling on international institutions like the United Nations, the European Union, and human rights organizations to intervene immediately. “Everything must be done to prevent the execution of these individuals,” he stated, adding that silence in the face of such atrocities would be unacceptable.

The MP revealed that he has signed an appeal aimed at halting the executions and increasing global pressure on Tehran. He urged Germany and other nations to support the democratic opposition in Iran, asserting that the regime is beyond reform. “The regime in Iran cannot be reformed. The German government must also back the democratic opposition,” Riexinger declared.

The executions of political dissidents are the latest in a series of actions by the Iranian government to stifle opposition. Activists have long criticized the regime for its widespread use of the death penalty against those accused of political dissent.

The German MP reiterated his support for the Iranian democratic opposition, which he sees as a critical force in the fight against repression. He emphasized the importance of solidarity with Iranians striving for freedom and justice. “I will continue to support the democratic opposition in Iran,” Riexinger pledged.

This appeal comes as international scrutiny of Iran’s human rights record intensifies. Activists and political leaders worldwide are urging stronger sanctions and diplomatic measures to hold the regime accountable. With Riexinger’s call to action, pressure is mounting on Germany and the European Union to take a firmer stance against Tehran’s systemic repression.
