Iran: Regime MP underscores growing trend of defections

Iran: Regime MP underscores growing trend of defectionsNCRI – A member of the Iranian regime’s Parliament (Majlis) has warned against exposing the names of those who have defected from the regime, according to the state-run Fars news agency on Wednesday.

Aqa Tehrani, who implicitly admitted an extensive number of defections within the regime’s ranks, sought to justify it by saying, “In the course of the divine ordeals and the sedition, it is natural that some decide to defect and this is not just a problem at one level but multiple levels. … In any test, it could be possible that some defect and all of them would receive a grade.”

Aqa Tehran added, “Perhaps it would not be prudent to talk about the defections by naming individuals because we hope and pray that those who have defected would realize their mistake and return.”

The Majlis deputy also highlighted the deteriorating credibility of the regime and the diminishing hegemony of the regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, saying, “We must learn to be able to forgive when it comes to the Supreme Leader’s opinions…If the Supreme Leader’s views were taken to heart and everyone had followed his lead then there would not have been a confrontation. People would not have defected and no one would have been forced to speak vaguely.”
