Iran: unpaid wages and lay off

Iran: unpaid wages and lay offNCRI – Last week, 700 workers of the “Simin Nau” factory in Isfahan, (centeral Iran), have sent more than one hundred of their representatives to Tehran in order to join a three-day protest in front of the mullahs’ Majlis (parliament). The workers have not been paid for five months. The  management has invested their wages in stock exchange bringing the factory to the brink of closure. Protesters exposed this embezzlement in their banners.

Isfahan’s MPs and the director of “the House of Workers”, an inquisition organ of the clerical regime, made new promises to the demonstrators who nevertheless refused to stop their protest before they got assurances on their wage payments.

On the other hand, workers of the ceramic factory Hamgam in Shahrekord town launched a week of protest in front of the governorate to demand their unpaid wages. The management of this factory has laid off 700 of its 1300 workers and given two weeks off to the rest of its employees, who are very worried about their future.
