Sham Elections – No. 3

The Fars news agency, affiliated to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), at 4:43 pm local time, meaning more than 8½ hours after polling stations were opened, reported, “So far 20 million of eligible voters were able to cast their ballots.” This means despite all measures aimed at rigging the vote, and with less than 1 hour and 15 minutes left until the voting deadline, only 35% of the eligible voters had participated in the sham elections,.

Members of the IRGC and paramilitary Bassij, alongside other repressive forces, have been planning for some time now on rigging the vote at a massive scale. These measures includes:

– Using a large number of ID documents belonging to the deceased

– Publishing a large number of duplicate ID documents

– Members of the IRGC and military forces voting once in their bases and once in their cities

– Voting with ID documents without any need for national cards. This provides the opportunity for people to cast numerous votes

– Forcing prisoners to vote

Eyewitness reports, along with images and video clips at various hours of the day from Tehran and other cities including Isfahan, Mashhad, Shiraz, Urmia, Tabriz, Ardebil, Kashan, Hamedan, Kangavar, Hamedan, Sanandaj, Karaj, Yazd, Zanjan, Kermanshah, Bandar Abbas, Sabzevar, Mahabad, Ravar, Kerman, Zahedan, Roudsar, Salmass, Ramsar, Rasht, Gorgan, Shahr-e Babak, Zarand, Kerman, South Rudbar, Semnan, Sove, Gharve, Arak, Borujerd, Piranshahr, Marivan, Neishabour, Khorram Abad, Bam, Ahvaz, Salmas, Delijan, Islamshahr, Farrokh Shahr, Babolsar, Azna, Oligudarz, Shahroud, Bumahan, Noruzvand, Shiraz, Shahr-e Ray, Robat Karim, Islamabad, Siahkal, Natanz, Dargez, Islamshahr, Bile Savar, Iranshahr, Ivan, Ilam and Dalahou indicate most of the polling stations were vacant. In many of the polling stations the employees and state security forces were more than the number of voters.

For its TV programs and to deceive foreign reporters, the mullahs’ regime has organized the polling stations in a certain manner to show a small number of packed polling stations. One objective sought by the regime by coinciding its presidential and city/village council elections is to create crowds for its TV programs.
