US Senator Marco Rubio: “Iranian Regime is the Source of Middle East Conflict”

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio asserted in an interview with The World Over that the Iranian regime is the primary force driving instability across the Middle East. “The source of conflict in the Middle East is… the Ayatollah in Iran. The Islamic Republic, the revolution, they want to be the dominant power in the region,” Rubio stated.

He outlined Tehran’s deep influence over regional militant groups, saying, “Without Iran, there is no Hamas. Without Iran, there is no Hezbollah. Without Iran, there are no Shia militias attacking us from Iraq and Syria. Without Iran, none of these things happen. Without Iran, the Houthis don’t exist. They don’t have the weapons they have now to threaten global shipping in the Red Sea.”

Senator Rubio emphasized the need to contain the regime’s ambitions, stating, “Iran has to be deterred. And the only thing that Iran cares about more than being the most powerful country in the Middle East is surviving in power.” He highlighted that the Iranian regime fears Trump’s return, alleging, “They want to kill Donald Trump… They fear him [because he would] reestablish deterrence, where they clearly understand that if they continue on this pattern, it threatens their regime and its survival.”

The US senator criticized the Biden administration’s handling of Iran, suggesting a more direct approach, “I don’t know why Joe Biden doesn’t pick up the phone and say, ‘If anything happens to Donald Trump or any American… and you guys are behind it, the Ayatollah is in danger.’” He underscored the need for a firm response, concluding, “You have to be very clear and very firm in how you deal with them. This administration has not been, but Donald Trump will be and has been in the past.”

Achieving Autonomy and Justice for Iran’s Ethnicities and Nationalities

NCRI-Constetotion

November 8 marks the anniversary of the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s (NCRI) adoption of a plan for the autonomy of Iranian Kurdistan, approved in a council session in 1983. Forty-one years later, this 12-point proposal endures as one of the most comprehensive models of its kind globally. Since its inception, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has steadfastly prioritized the autonomy of oppressed nationalities. From the very beginning of Khomeini’s rule, the NCRI’s founding members resolutely opposed the regime’s suppression of Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen, and other ethnic groups across Iran.

In its platform, the NCRI stresses that all nationalities and ethnic groups within our homeland must have the right to internal autonomy. It affirms that their cultural, social, and political rights and freedoms should be protected within the framework of national unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

UN Raises Alarms Over Human Rights Violations in Iran Amid Escalating Executions

In a recent interview with UN Web TV, Mai Sato, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran, voiced grave concerns over the human rights landscape in the country, particularly focusing on violations of freedom of expression and assembly. Sato highlighted how Iranian authorities are systematically curtailing the rights of civil society, often using national security charges to detain human rights defenders and journalists, many of whom face health risks due to limited access to medical care in prison.

Sato detailed how Iranian civil society has come under intensified pressure, with human rights advocates and journalists frequently threatened, arrested, and prosecuted on vague security-related charges. Once imprisoned, these individuals are frequently deprived of basic healthcare, a situation that further jeopardizes their well-being and underlines the harsh conditions facing detainees across the country.

Iranian Regime Reactions to Trump’s Second Presidency

Donald Trump Turns the Screw on Iran Regime - Struan Stevenson

The political landscape in Iran, particularly in light of international developments, reveals that the ruling regime has long pursued a policy of confronting internal discontent through repression. The regime closely monitors local and international events to assess their impact on the growing public discontent. This has gained particular significance with the increasing international isolation and economic crises threatening the regime’s survival. Political developments in the United States, especially election outcomes, bear critical implications for the future of the Iranian regime. While Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other leaders publicly deny such influence, initial reactions reveal the truth.

Ahmad Zaid Abadi, a theorist from the so-called reformist faction within the regime, commented on the possible return of Donald Trump to the presidency in the U.S.: “To have a narcissistic, deceitful, and unpredictable figure in the White House for another four years is torment for people like me thousands of kilometers away.”
