Ali Younesi has been sentenced to a total of 6 years and 3 months of additional imprisonment, and Amirhossein Moradi to 15 months of additional imprisonment.

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, the regime’s judiciary sentenced two political prisoners supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), 26-year-old Amirhossein Moradi and 25-year-old Ali Younesi, whose sentences were nearing completion after 64 months in prison, to further imprisonment through a fabricated and absurd case, to prevent their release.

According to the ruling issued by Branch 23 of the Revolutionary Court, presided over by Ali Mazloom, the two prisoners were each sentenced to an additional 15 months in prison on the charge of “propaganda activities against the regime.”

In addition, Ali Younesi was sentenced—on the false, cleric-fabricated charge of “endorsing and supporting the Zionist regime”—to another 5 years in prison, exile to Kerman Prison, deprivation of access to and any use of cyberspace, and prohibition from any telephone contact with the outside world.

Four days earlier, on August 5, 2025, the judiciary, in an in-absentia trial of 104 members of the PMOI and the Resistance that has been ongoing for two years, added the charge of “collaboration with the Zionist regime to assassinate nuclear scientists” to the fabricated accusations against the PMOI.

Amirhossein Moradi and Ali Younesi, two elite students of Sharif University of Technology, were arrested in April 2020 and sentenced to 6 years and 8 months in prison and have so far been held without a single day of furlough. On June 18, 2025, Ali Younesi was abducted from Ward 4 of Evin Prison and, after some time, transferred to solitary confinement in Qom Prison.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the Human Rights Council, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, the International Fact-Finding Committee, and other human rights bodies to take urgent action to secure the release of political prisoners.
