Iran’s Killing Machine: 1,200 Executions This Year Alone as Chilling Letter Warns Regime Is Erasing Victims

Daily-Mail-Logo-Box

A coalition of former ambassadors, MPs and senior religious leaders have issued a stark warning over what they describe as a ‘massacre unfolding in plain sight’ in Iran.

In a strongly worded letter, the signatories accuse the Iranian regime of ramping up executions as a brutal method of silencing dissent—with a staggering 1,200 people put to death so far this year, including 200 in September alone, marking the bloodiest month since the notorious 1988 prison killings.

Currently, there are more than 50 political prisoners on death row, including three women.

The letter urges the United Nations and democratic nations to intervene immediately, warning that inaction could pave the way for a chilling repeat of the mass executions that claimed an estimated 30,000 lives nearly four decades ago.

Though Decades Removed from His Execution, a Free Iran Will Be My Father’s Legacy

townhall-logo

As this Friday is World Day Against the Death Penalty, I have been thinking a lot lately about an audio recording I made with my father when I was only six years old. In it, he said to me: “Your heart is your country and currently your country is one big prison. But there will come a day when you see paradise, and that is when Iran will be free.” The recording is precious to me because those were among the last words my father uttered in my presence. Only months later, the Iranian regime hanged him as punishment for his activism and membership in the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), which was and remains the country’s leading pro-democracy opposition group.

My father was only 33 years old at the time, and I was only six – too young to understand the full context or significance of the words he was leaving behind for me. But as I reached adolescence and then adulthood, I grew to appreciate those sentiments more deeply each time I listened back to them, and soon I found them fueling my own activism as I sought to follow in my father’s noble footsteps. With each passing year, I feel a greater sense of hope that the inspiration my father left behind will indeed help the Iranian people to win their freedom.

World Day Against the Death Penalty: Urgent Campaign to Stop Executions in Iran

International conference held by the NCRI in London to honor World Day Against the Death Penalty— October 11, 2025

On this World Day Against the Death Penalty, I pay tribute to all those who were executed for their struggle for freedom. On this day, the world’s outrage and revulsion are directed at the religious tyranny ruling Iran, a regime of executions and massacres, a monster of death, and a symbol of destruction. Yet, the Iranian people and Resistance continue to stand firm against this regime through acts of heroic sacrifice. The mullahs sought to shape our destiny with the gallows, but we rose in defiance and forged a new path, one that guarantees freedom. Our Resistance carries the radiant promise that the inevitable overthrow of this regime will not only be a victory for the people of Iran, but also a great triumph for human rights across the world.

In yet another wave of arbitrary arrests targeting women in Iran, two political prisoners, Manijeh Hassani-Fard and Fariba Khorramabadi, remain in detention under unclear circumstances and without due legal process at Fardis Prison (Kachouii) in Karaj. The mother of two was arrested by security forces in Karaj without the presentation of any judicial warrant and transferred directly to Fardis Prison.

Iranian Girls: Stolen Childhoods and Dark Futures

Young Iranian girls 1 min

On the International Day of the Girl Child, October 11, 2025, when the world reaffirms its commitment to equality, education, and protection for girls, millions of young girls in Iran continue to live under systematic discrimination, child marriage, forced labor, and state-sanctioned violence. Under the rule of the mullahs’ regime, Iranian girls face institutionalized misogyny from early childhood—where laws, religion, and policy combine to strip them of education, safety, and dignity before they even reach adulthood. Although Iran acceded to the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1993, its domestic laws remain in blatant contradiction with its international obligations. Article 1041 of the Civil Code allows the marriage of girls under 13 with a guardian’s consent and a court’s approval. Article 1210 sets the age of puberty for girls at 9 lunar years, and Article 147 of the Islamic Penal Code establishes criminal responsibility from the same age.

Iran’s Human Rights Crisis Deepens After 12-Day War: Over 200 Executions and Mass Arrests in September

Following Khamenei’s warnings that “the real threat is internal,” Iran’s regime intensifies repression with record executions, arbitrary arrests, and systematic crackdowns. Following the 12-day war and the heavy blows suffered by the regime, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei repeatedly emphasized that “the real threat comes from within,” not from foreign enemies. This shift in focus has led to an escalation in domestic repression — including widespread executions, arbitrary arrests, and torture — as the regime seeks to suppress dissent and prevent new uprisings. In recent weeks, intelligence and security forces have launched a sweeping campaign of arrests under various pretexts, detaining hundreds across the country. Continuous executions throughout September have plunged many families into mourning, as Iran witnessed one of the deadliest months of 2025 in terms of human rights violations.
