The passing of Sir Geoffrey Bindman, Britain’s eminent human rights lawyer and a steadfast ally of the Iranian Resistance, marks the departure of one of the most principled voices of our time. He died on November 4, 2025, at the age of 92 — but his name will remain etched in the conscience of all who believe in justice, dignity, and the unyielding defense of human freedom.
Sir Geoffrey Bindman was not merely a lawyer; he was the embodiment of moral courage in the service of law. As founder of Bindmans LLP, he built one of Britain’s first and most respected human rights chambers — a sanctuary for the powerless and a weapon against tyranny. Through decades of work, he defended victims of torture, discrimination, and political persecution across the world, earning a reputation for integrity and compassion that transcended borders.
But to the people of Iran, Sir Geoffrey was far more than an advocate. He was a brother in the struggle — a man who stood by the Iranian Resistance when few dared, and who lent his legal mastery to lifting the unjust “terrorist” label imposed on the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). His courage in that campaign led to a landmark victory in the British High Court — a triumph not only for one organization, but for truth, due process, and the right of a nation to resist tyranny.
With deepest condolences on the passing of Sir Geoffrey Bindman, a distinguished British jurist, renowned defender of human rights, a long-standing friend of the Iranian Resistance, and one of the most enduring and influential figures in the world of law.

Sir Geoffrey understood that law without conscience is hollow. Again and again, he used his voice to call for accountability for the clerical dictatorship’s crimes — from the 1988 massacre of political prisoners to the bloody repression of the November 2019 protests. He warned that the international community’s silence was complicity and that justice delayed for Iran’s victims was justice denied for humanity.
When the regime in Tehran blacklisted his name, fearing his influence, Sir Geoffrey responded with characteristic clarity: “If defending freedom and justice is a crime, I wear it as a badge of honor.”
Even in his final years, his solidarity with Iran’s Resistance never wavered. He praised Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for a free, democratic republic as a vision of human decency — “a future without torture, executions, or inequality,” as he called it. In his final messages, he urged the world to stand with those who fight for democracy in Iran, reminding leaders that the duty to confront evil does not end at one’s borders.

In her condolence message, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi noted that “Bindman was one of the most enduring and influential figures in the world of law, dedicating his life to the cause of justice and human rights.”
Sir Geoffrey Bindman’s legacy will live not only in courtrooms but in the moral imagination of all who believe that justice must be global, fearless, and humane. His passing leaves an immense void — yet his life’s work lights the path forward for jurists, activists, and citizens who refuse to surrender truth to tyranny.
Today, as Iran’s people continue their struggle for freedom against oppression, they do so in the company of his spirit — a lawyer who saw in their cause the reflection of all humanity’s longing for justice.
In every courtroom where rights are defended, in every protest where voices rise against injustice, the light of Sir Geoffrey Bindman will burn on — steadfast, clear, and unafraid.
