Iran: Brutal Public Execution of Brave Protesters Abolfazl Sepahi (24) and Amirhossein Safari (27) in Isfahan

This morning, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the henchmen of the mullahs’ regime publicly hanged Abolfazl Sepahi Badjani (24) and Amirhossein Safari Hosseinabadi (27)—two brave protesters of the January 2026 uprising—in Alikhani Square, Isfahan. This brutal crime was aimed at creating an atmosphere of fear and terror to prevent a public uprising.
Fearing public outrage over this brutal crime, the regime’s suppressive forces had deployed agents in the surrounding streets and on rooftops. Nevertheless, onlookers at the scene protested this savage act, chanting “Dishonorable, dishonorable!” The suppressive forces attacked the crowd and fired tear gas in an attempt to disperse them.
The regime’s judiciary cited the charges against the two young protesters as: “Moharebeh (enmity against God) through drawing weapons, and corruption on Earth by committing acts that cause severe disruption to public order and national security,” involvement in the deaths of “four State Security Force (SSF) officers,” “possession of firearms and Molotov cocktails, setting fire to a police station,” and “blocking streets” (Mizan news agency, July 28, 2026).
In a case known as “Alikhani Square,” the regime’s judiciary sentenced 12 protesters arrested during the January uprising to death in connection with the deaths of four SSF officers who had actively participated in suppressing protests. Previously, Erfan Esfandiari and Gol-Mohammad Mohammadi, two other defendants in this case, were hanged. The Iranian Resistance had warned on July 19, 2026, of the imminent execution of these protesters and urged the international community to take immediate action to prevent the executions.
The trial for this case was held in the regime’s sham kangaroo courts by criminal judges Mohammad Barati-Dorcheh and Mohammad-Reza Tavakoli. The protesters were denied the right to choose their own lawyers, and even their court-appointed lawyers were denied access to the case files.

The eight other prisoners sentenced to death in this case are: Alireza Sepahi (24), Ghaem Hosseini (20), Shervin Bagherian (18), Amirhossein Ebrahimi Analucheh (19), Amirhossein Maleki (19), Ali Dashti (19), Abolfazl Ebrahimi (18), and Alireza Raeisi (21).
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said: “With this medieval public crime and the successive executions of Mojahedin youth and brave protesters, the religious dictatorship is desperately trying to prevent an explosion of popular anger and the rise of public protests. However, this only strengthens the resolve of the rebellious youths to overthrow this bloodthirsty regime.”
Mrs. Rajavi once again called on the United Nations, all human rights bodies, as well as the European Union and its member states, to strongly condemn this brutal crime. She urged immediate and effective action to halt the execution and suppression machine of the mullahs’ regime and to save the lives of political prisoners on death row, particularly the eight other young men sentenced to death in Isfahan.
The silence and inaction of the international community act as a green light for the regime to continue and intensify executions and massacres. The dossier of this regime’s crimes must be referred to the United Nations Security Council, and its leaders must be brought to justice for crimes against humanity.
