NCRI – Chief of police in greater Tehran, Ahmadreza Radan, said yesterday that the issue of "social security" would be pursued as it has been so far and described it as a "sacred" plan in which there can be no retreat. In an attempt to encourage his forces, he told the gathering of the police force that their activities in dealing with improper dressing will be awarded by God. "Those who take part in suppression of ‘hooligans and thugs’ will be awarded in the day of resurrection." The recent wave of suppression of young people in Iran has been branded as a campaign to combat "hooligans and thugs" by the clerical regime in Iran in which over a million people have been arrested so far.
"In order to please God, new measures in social security plan will be enforced in addition to what has been done in the past," reiterated Radan. Fearing discontent even among his own ranks, he said, "If there are people among you who intend to confuse your efforts, they should be isolated immediately."
Ahmad Rouzbahani, the Moral Security Police chief of the regime’s State Security Forces also called for tough measures against those who do not observe the regime’s code of dressing. He said the police should deal with those who wear "tight and short trousers or coats" and those whose shirts are undone. He also warned women not to wear thin and small scarves and "unusual make up." He further elaborated that women should wear long and baggy coats to hide "their body contours."
Rouzbahani said that the offenders would be taken to police station and their families would be contacted to bring proper dress for them. They would be released only after they written commitment to observe the regime’s standards.
Referring to women’s resistance to suppressive measures he said, "When some women are cautioned on streets that their dress is not appropriate they start shouting and screaming." To hearten his demoralized forces he called on women not to abuse the police and listen to their warnings.
