Iran: Jalal al-Din Ali al-Saghir is a marionette of the mullahs’ regime in Iraq

Jalal al-Din Ali Al-SaghirHe is involved in conspiracies against the PMOI (MEK) members in Ashraf City and must be prosecuted
NCRI – On June 20, Jalal al-Din Ali al-Saghir, a cleric acting on behalf of the religious fascism ruling Iran, in his Friday prayers sermons in Buratha Mosque in Baghdad called for "handing over of the members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) to the Iraqi government," so that "they could be send to a third country."

Saghir blatantly denied the Geneva Conventions and other international covenants ruling PMOI members' presence in Iraq and said, "Claiming that their presence in Iraq is based on Geneva Conventions is neither legal nor true." His remarks were aired by Al-Iraqieh television channel.

Saghir has a long record of torture and murder of innocent Iraqi citizens. Some of his secret torture chambers were disclosed before. In his sermon on Friday he tried to put together some baseless allegations against the PMOI members such as "Taking part in crimes against Iraqi people in Kirkuk, Diyala, Baghdad, and Basra provinces of Iraq."

He tried to tarnish the PMOI's image in the eyes of the distinguished members of Iraqi parliament opposed to the Iranian regime's meddling in Iraq and support the PMOI's presence in that country by saying, "We have abundant security documents about them [referring to the PMOI]. Those in the parliament [who support the PMOI] are either naive or are trying to distort the facts."

He called on the US forces to "Send a message to the Iraqi people and their government to reassure them of Iraq's sovereignty when PMOI expelled. Write a letter attesting to the fact that the Iraqi government decided to expel the PMOI and you [the US] carried it out. Tell everyone that you [the US] seek the Iraqi government's sovereignty."

In a totally fabricated claim, he accused the PMOI members of having arms in Ashraf City (home to the members of the PMOI in Iraq). He said, "Let me put to you plainly, we no longer can tolerate. How is it that in Basra, Mousel and Amarah, illegal arms are being captured but when it comes to the criminal PMOI's base they are allowed to carry  arms. They get what they want and in their camp they train and arm terrorists and conduct terrorist operations. In the past, the US and the Europeans recognized them [PMOI] as terrorists."

Denying the residents of Ashraf City protection under the international conventions such as the International Humanitarian Law and the principle of nonrefoulment, especially coming from someone with a long record of criminal acts against Iraqi people clearly aimed to lay the grounds for the massacre of residents of Ashraf City which amounts to a human catastrophe.

The Iranian Resistance warns that Saghir would be held responsible in all possible future terrorist acts directed at the residents of Ashraf.

According to the legal opinions by most distinguished law experts, such comments violate the principal of nonrefoulment and the Common Article Three of Geneva Conventions amounting to war crimes against protected persons punishable by law.

The international regulations as well as relevant international authorities have declared that the international laws and in particular the International Humanitarian Law and the principle of nonrefoulment are applicable to the residents of Ashraf.

Their protection therefore rests with the Multi-National Force-Iraq (MNF-I) and is not transferable to any other country or authority.

The Iranian Resistance calls on the MNF-I, the US government, the Iraqi government and all competent international bodies to prevent a human catastrophe by condemning such remarks as well as underscoring the rights of Ashraf City residents.
