NCRI – In a hostile move by the Iraqi forces on Monday, one of the internal telephone system junctions inside Camp Ashraf, which was purchased and installed by Ashraf residents years ago, was destroyed and some of the communication equipment and cables were removed from underground and taken away by the forces.
In a similar malicious move, the Iraqi forces and agents of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS), who have camped at the entrance of Ashraf and are subjecting the residents to psychological tortures, have destroyed many installations and equipment at the entrance and are refusing to allow the residents of Ashraf to repair them.
Some of the goods and equipment including barbed wires in storage areas at the entrance of Ashraf, which was taken over by the Iraqi forces in July 2009, have recently been stolen by these forces. (See photos below)
Previously, in a number of cases, the Iraqi forces had destroyed various installations and equipment belonged to Ashraf residents and stole some of them. During attacks on July 28 and 29, 2009, they inflicted heavy damages to the premises and equipment belonged to the residents of Ashraf and took away their belongings. The Secretariat of the NCRI in a statement on August 15, 2009, reported that Ashraf residents’ property worth $2,537,000 were stolen or confiscated during the July attack, which included vehicles worth $1,177,000.
These inhumane acts are taking place while the Iraqi forces have been refusing to allow any building material to enter Ashraf upon the orders of the suppressive committee within Iraq’s prime minister’s office for the past year and half.
The Iranian Resistance draws the attention of UNAMI and the Special Representative of UN Secretary General for Iraq as well as the US forces in Iraq to the hostile acts by Iraqi forces against the residents of Ashraf and calls on them to take urgent measures to prevent these incidents from taking place and the stolen items returned to the residents.
