Iran: Maryam Rajavi calls on UN to put on trial regime officials for executions and killings

Maryam Rajavi called on Security Council to set up an international tribunal to try ‎perpetrators of executions and killings in Iran

NCRI – On the World Day against the Death Penalty, Mrs. Maryam‏ ‏Rajavi, the President-elect of ‎the Iranian Resistance, once again called upon the UN Security Council to set up a ‎tribunal to try those responsible for execution, torture and massacre in Iran under ‎mullahs’ rule, especially the officials responsible for massacre of 30,000 political prisoners ‎in 1988. The perpetrators of this massive crime still occupy key political, military and ‎judicial posts in the Iranian regime. ‎

She added: Silence before this unprecedented crime in the contemporary history has ‎encouraged the criminals ruling Iran to continue barbaric and systematic violation of ‎human rights. Execution of prisoners including political prisoners has been going on ‎throughout this year, and even today on the World Day against the Death Penalty, four ‎prisoners including a woman were hanged in central prison of Zanjan.‎

Also, there are right now many political prisoners at risk of execution. Mrs. Farah (Almira) ‎Vazehan and Messrs. Mohammad Ali Saremi, Jafar Kazemi, Mohammad Ali Haj Aghaei, ‎Mohsen Daneshpour Moghaddam and his son Ahmad Daneshpour Moghaddam have ‎been sentenced to death on the charge of ‘Mohareb’ (enemy of God) only because of being ‎relatives of PMOI members in Ashraf or having visited Ashraf, Mrs. Rajavi said.‎

She noted: Setting up gallows in different cities, group executions, and widespread arrests ‎of women and youth, bespeak ‎of inability of the faltering regime in confronting growing ‎protests and hatred among the ‎Iranian people toward the clerical regime in its entirety. ‎

Saluting political prisoners sentenced to death, she said: Bravery of these prisoners before ‎the bloodthirsty regime and its courts’ verdicts indicates that the clerical regime has failed ‎in confronting uprising of the Iranian people and their just demands and can no longer ‎intimidate the Iranian people by execution and massacre.‎

Maryam Rajavi stressed that the time has come for the international community to boycott ‎the mullahs’ regime not only for its nuclear projects but also for its barbaric violation of ‎human rights. The international community, especially the European Union should ‎impose comprehensive sanctions on this regime, its leaders and those responsible for ‎execution, torture and massacre of the Iranian people.‎
