Chairman of mullahs’ Majlis Committee on Security admits 300 people sentenced to hanging in Iran

NCRI – The Chairman of the mullahs’ Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, Alaeddin Borujerdi, was quoted as telling a gathering of mullahs in the central city of Qom, “On a recent visit to some prisons, we witnessed 300 prisoners on death row. After the passing of two years they are still awaiting execution.” (State-run news agency ISNA, January 1, 2007)

Borujerdi called for their immediate execution, saying, “We must not show any mercy.”

Today, the mullahs’ henchmen hanged three people identified as Qader, Nazar-Ozbak and Rassul in Evin Prison, the state-run daily Iran reported.

Separately, three youths were sentenced to death by the regime in the southwestern city of Mahshahr. They were identified as H.A, A.M, and H.H, the state-run daily Etemaad reported on January 1.

Arbitrary executions and Borujerdi’s brazen remarks about the great number of officially-announced execution sentences are indicative of the regime’s fear of the increasing number of uprisings and demonstrations.

The Iranian Resistance once again reiterates the need for the referral of the regime’s human rights dossier to the U.N. Security Council for immediate international action to stop the heinous executions in Iran.
