Iran: Coronavirus Fatalities in 369 Cities Exceeds 83,800

Spokesperson for the Health Ministry: For the past six weeks, we have been witnessing an upward trend in the disease chart in Qom, and unlike the first slope, the current slope is continuous and ascending.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Thursday, August 6, 2020, that the Coronavirus fatalities in 369 cities across Iran has surpassed 83,800. The number of victims in Tehran is 20,740, Mazandaran 3,926, Isfahan 3,748, Gilan 3,512, Lorestan 3,405, East Azerbaijan 2,425, Fars 2,300, Golestan 2,279, Hamedan 2,174, Kermanshah 2,030, Kerman 1,251, Semnan 1,050, Central Province 988, and Qazvin 680.

A spokesperson for the regime’s Health Ministry put the state-controlled Coronavirus figures at 174 dead, and 4,154 patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), the highest since the beginning of the outbreak. As of yesterday, she declared 26 provinces in red or in a state of alert. She also added, “Since the end of March, we witnessed a downward trend in the spread of the virus in Qom, but in the past six weeks we have witnessed an upward trend in the Province, and now this continuous and ascending slope, unlike the first slope, is continuing upward, placing this Province in a red state.”

In Qom, the vice president of the University of Medical Sciences told Tasnim news agency, yesterday, “The situation in Qom is red and the medical staff of Qom are extensively worn out … We have an increasing trend of infection and the situation is red and the number of critically ill patients has also increased. The increase in the number of hospitalizations in Qom is a sign of warning … At present, the probability of positive tests has reached 49%.” The governor of Qom was also quoted by ISNA, as saying yesterday, “Six months have passed since the beginning of the Coronavirus and all agencies and managers are involved in dealing with it. In the meantime, the medical staff have suffered a lot and we must prevent more fatigue and exhaustion of the medical personnel … If the conditions do not return to normal by Sunday, some restrictions will be imposed in Qom.”
