Urgent Call to Action to Save Prisoners on Death Row and Hold Regime Leaders Accountable
The Iranian regime’s judiciary announced today that on the morning of Wednesday, May 28, 2025, Pedram Madani, 41 years old, was hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison on charges of “espionage” and “illicit gain” in connection with Israel. Pedram Madani had been arrested in Tehran in 2020 and, “prior to his arrest, had traveled abroad, specifically to Germany” (Mizan News Agency, May 28).
On the same day, four other prisoners—Majid Bahrami, Seyed Abbas Khosrokhani, Hojjat Havasi Karavand, and Afshin Ezzati—were executed in Ghezel Hesar Prison, and another prisoner named Ehsan Hossein Zehi was executed in Khash Prison.
On Monday, May 26, the execution of Ali Akbar Mirzaei in Shahab Prison in Kerman and Reza Abdouli in Dezful Prison brought the total number of executions on that day to twelve, ten of whom had already been announced in a previous statement.
The Iranian Resistance once again calls on the United Nations, its relevant bodies, the European Union, and member states to condemn the unrestrained wave of executions in Iran and to take immediate action to save the lives of prisoners on death row. The case of human rights violations in Iran must be referred to the United Nations Security Council, and the regime’s leaders must be brought to justice for executions and massacres.
