Widespread Demonstrations by Different Social Groups in Various Cities
On the afternoon of Monday, September 8, residents of Semirom held a protest against the execution of Mehran Bahramian, honoring him as a proud martyr. By last night and this morning, regime security reinforcements were deployed to Semirom in an attempt to prevent further protests.
On Monday, September 8, the largest nationwide gathering of retired telecommunications employees was held simultaneously in eight cities: Isfahan, Tabriz, Bijar, Rasht, Sanandaj, Kermanshah, Shahr-e Kord, and Khorramabad. The protesters chanted slogans against the IRGC’s Cooperative Foundation and the Execution of Khomeini’s Order headquarters, denouncing the trampling of their rights and declaring that no threat could deter them from pursuing their demands. In Kermanshah, protesters chanted: “Retiree, rise up, this is no time to sit down” and “While the elites live in luxury, retirees suffer in misery.”
In Tehran, protest gatherings took place outside the Ramak Khodro offices, the City Council building, the state broadcaster (IRIB), several ministries, and the governor’s office. Participants included victims defrauded by Ramak Khodro, retired steelworkers, and applicants for government employment exams.
On Monday in Isfahan, applicants for the National Housing Plan and retired steelworkers staged demonstrations. In Kermanshah, families of political prisoners protested following an intentional power outage in Dizel-Abad Prison. In Ahvaz, retired social security workers rallied under the slogan “Enough with war-mongering, our tables are empty,” calling for the release of imprisoned protesters.
In Sanandaj, Kermanshah, Tehran, Rasht, Shush, and Ahvaz, retired social security workers, textile workers, and teachers also protested against catastrophic living conditions and the systematic plundering of their assets. In Tehran, families of members of 33 housing cooperatives faced an attack by security forces; the protesters responded by chanting “Shameless, shameless” at the suppressive forces.
