Iran: The Staggering Number of Coronavirus Fatalities in 480 Cities Exceed 211,000

  • Masoud Mardani, member of the National Coronavirus Combat Taskforce (NCCT) Scientific Committee: If there will be a new COVID-19 peak, the virus may become mutated and more resilient, therefore the prevalence and the infection may be higher than the previous waves. (Aria, February 4, 2021)
  • Mazandaran and Babol University of Medical Sciences: The total number of COVID-19 hospitalized patients had reached 1,243, of which 249 are in ICU. (Mehr news agency, February 3, 2021)

  • State-run daily, Aftab-e Yazd, February 4, 2021, criticizing regime officials for not delivering COVID-19 vaccines wrote: “Gentlemen, when is the vaccination supposed to start? Instead of fighting each other on podiums, and in return for your salaries of 40, 30, 20 and … million Tomans, you should provide services to the people.”

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on February 4, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 480 cities had surpassed 211,000. The number of victims in Tehran is 50,866, Khorasan Razavi 14,190, Isfahan 13,450, Mazandaran 8,717, Qom 8,130, West Azerbaijan 7,778, Gilan 7,521, Golestan 5,444, Sistan and Baluchestan 5,066, North Khorasan 3,263, and Qazvin 2,319.
