The NCRI Women’s Committee Calls for Urgent Action for the Release of Political Prisoners, Especially Women
Political prisoner Arghavan Fallahi, 24, has been moved to an unknown location.
Rearrested in Tehran on January 25, 2025, Arghavan Fallahi was subjected to interrogation and torture in solitary confinement in Ward 241 of Evin Prison. She was initially transferred to solitary cells in Fashafouyeh Prison after being removed from Evin. During this time, she has been under constant interrogation and subjected to psychological torture and denied visits with her family.
Arghavan was previously arrested in November 2022 along with her father, Nasrollah Fallahi, a political prisoner from the 1980s, and was later released. Nasrollah is currently serving a 5-year prison sentence in Fashafouyeh Prison.
The Women’s Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran calls for the intervention of the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Iran and the UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls to investigate Arghavan Fallahi’s whereabouts and detention conditions. It also urges all international human rights and women’s rights bodies to take urgent action for the release of political prisoners, especially women.
