  • Mrs. Rajavi, drawing attention to the situation of 1,500 prisoners on death row in Ghezel Hesar Prison, called for urgent action by the United Nations, the European Union, and human rights defenders to end this horrific nightmare in Iran under the rule of the criminal clerics.

Khamenei’s henchmen executed at least fourteen prisoners on October 14, and on Wednesday, October 15, another group of prisoners was sent to the gallows. By noon today, the names of five of them have been confirmed; the names of the remaining victims will be announced later.

Today, Majid Hatami, aged 26, Sajjad Hatami, and Amir Reza Ghobadi were executed in Ghezel Hesar; Hazrat Es’hafari in Isfahan; and Mohammad Rafiq Golehbacheh in Arak. On Tuesday, October 14, fourteen prisoners were hanged: Ghanbar Emad Morgan, aged 26, in Esfarayen; Fateh Haqdarian, aged 32, in Yasuj; Shahram Chenabi and four other prisoners in Kermanshah. The names of the other executed individuals were mentioned in the previous statement.

On Monday, October 13, ten prisoners were executed: Javad Yousefi and Eskandar Maleki in Qazvin. The names of the other executed people were also listed in the previous statement. Thus, the number of executions during the fourteen and a half months of Pezeshkian’s presidency has reached an unprecedented record of 2,008 prisoners.

Meanwhile, last night, coinciding with the second day of the hunger strike by 1,500 death-row prisoners in Ghezel Hesar, families of some inmates staged a protest outside the prison. On Tuesday, October 14, the striking prisoners issued a statement declaring: “Our patience has run out over this endless oppression and the taking of the lives of prisoners and young people. Every day and every week, some of our cellmates are sent to the gallows, and many of us spend our nights in the nightmare of death. These are the most agonizing moments of our lives and of our families… We demand the abolition of the death penalty in Iran.”

In videos released from this hunger strike, prisoners, holding handwritten signs reading “No to Execution,” call on the UN Secretary-General to prevent the massacre of prisoners. (Attached video.)

Yesterday, the inmates of Ward 4 in Ghezel Hesar issued a statement in support of the prisoners in Ward 2, declaring: “We support the steadfastness of our friends in Ward 2 and of their families protesting outside the prison. We have no choice left but protest and hunger strike. We call on all our compatriots and every awakened conscience to do whatever they can to abolish the death penalty and to save us and our friends—even tomorrow may be too late.”

Today, the Judiciary’s Mizan News Agency, in an inevitable admission, wrote: “In the orchestrated video disseminated across all hostile media, a hall from one of Ghezel Hesar Prison’s wards is shown, where several prisoners are sitting on the floor outside their cells, and an individual states that these prisoners are on hunger strike in protest against the execution of their cellmates.”

Last night, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, drawing the attention of the international community to the hunger strike and the fate of 1,500 death-row prisoners in Ghezel Hesar Prison, called for immediate action by the United Nations, member states of the Security Council, the European Union, and international human rights organizations to end this horrific nightmare in Iran under the rule of the criminal clerics.
