
Iran: Continuation of Nationwide Protests by Families of Prisoners, Workers, Retirees, and Oil Industry Employees Across the Country
On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, marking the 90th Tuesday of the “No to Execution” campaign, families of prisoners in various cities — including Tehran, Songhor, Ardabil, Marand, Isfahan, Babol, Someh Sara, Lahijan, Tabriz, Sabzevar, Rasht, Fouman, Roudsar, Mashhad, Qom, Sanandaj, Saravan, Chalous, Borazjan, and others — took to the streets holding placards and banners to protest against the death penalty.
On Monday, October 13, 2025, telecommunications retirees gathered in Tehran and six other cities — Ahvaz, Kermanshah, Isfahan, Tabriz, Sanandaj, and Marivan — in protest. They chanted slogans such as “We will not rest until we secure our rights,” demanding full implementation of the pay equalization plan and the settlement of their months-long unpaid benefits.
On the same day in Tehran, contract drivers from across the country gathered to protest the unresolved state of their employment and livelihood conditions, chanting: “We have come from all over the country; we demand answers.” In Bushehr Province, official employees of the oil industry in Assaluyeh and Kangan also stopped work in protest against discrimination and neglect in implementing Article 10 of the Coordinated Payment System Law and in defense of the independence of the Oil Industry Retirement Fund. In Bandar-e Dayr, workers and pickup truck drivers protested against unemployment. In Gilan Province, workers of Iran Wood and Paper Company (Chouka) gathered at kilometer five of the Rezvanshahr–Talesh road. Having gone months without receiving their wages and insurance payments, they chanted: “Where are our wages?” At the same time, the strike of the factory’s workers inside the production unit continued. In Shiraz, bakers held a protest against the rising cost of raw materials, the unfair distribution of flour quotas, and the non-payment of their sector subsidies.
On Sunday, October 12, 2025, employees of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company in Khark, Siri, and the Resalat platform in Lavan went on strike to protest salary restrictions, illegal taxation, and the interference of unrelated ministers in the Oil Industry Retirement Fund. Families residing in Jam Oil Town also held a protest over housing issues.
Social Security retirees in Ahvaz, Rasht, Kermanshah, Tehran, Shush, Haft Tappeh, and Shushtar — as well as steel industry retirees in Isfahan — held protest gatherings demanding pension increases in line with inflation and payment of their arrears.
On the same day in Arak, a group of applicants for the National Housing Project in the city of Mohajeran, Shazand County, Markazi Province, protested in front of the governor’s office. In Kermanshah, nurses gathered to demand payment of their overdue salaries and overtime compensation. In Tehran, students of Khajeh Nasir University held a protest, chanting: “The student is awake, and despises discrimination.”
