On Thursday evening, January 8, the twelfth day of the nationwide uprising, cities across Iran witnessed a major popular uprising for the third consecutive night. The flames of the uprising spread to 173 cities, as rebellious youths engaged in hit-and-run battles with mercenaries of the regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in more than 330 locations. Bold operations to seize or set fire to government centers have pushed the uprising into a new phase.

In Isfahan province, the clashes resembled a war. In Fouladshahr, the people and rebellious youths took control of the city, forcing repressive forces to flee; the crowd emphasized their determination to overthrow the regime with the slogan, “We want neither the Supreme Leader’s office nor the court, damn both vultures.” In the city of Isfahan, the building of the regime’s state broadcasting (IRIB) was set on fire, and in Vilashahr and Pirbakran, Basij bases were torched. In Baharestan, Isfahan, a crowd of several thousand destroyed surveillance cameras and government symbols and overturned a police kiosk in Valiasr Square. In Zarrinshahr, mercenaries’ motorcycles were set ablaze.

Various parts of Tehran, including Ekbatan Town, Narmak, Sattar Khan, Sadeghieh, Yaftabad, Tehranpars, Piroozi, Yousefabad, Velenjak, Naziabad, and Keshavarz Boulevard, were the scene of hit-and-run battles. Courageous youths set fire to IRGC vans in Phase One of Andisheh, and torched Special Unit vehicles and motorcycles under the Sattar Khan Bridge and in Mehrabad.

Chants of “Death to the oppressor, be it the Shah or the Leader” were heard from people and youths in various parts of the country, including Sadeghieh and Coca-Cola in Tehran, Tabriz, Sanandaj, and Kermanshah. In Urmia, people chanted, “Azerbaijan is honorable, Pahlavi is dishonorable.”

In Andimeshk, the city turned into a war zone as people set up barricades and attacked regime centers, destroying the Parsian Bank and the 113 intelligence center. In Shiraz, the Bani Hashemi neighborhood was liberated by the people as mercenaries fled; in Ma’ali Abad, the suppressors’ motorcycles were also burned. Rebellious youths in Gorgan, Bijar, and Islamabad-e-Gharb (Shabad) set fire to the regime’s governorate buildings in daring operations. Additionally, a Basij base in Dorud, Police Station 11 and a police kiosk in Malayer, three police vans in Moallem Square in Yazd, and a Ministry of Intelligence vehicle in Qorveh were set on fire. In Lumar, Ilam, youths seized the Keshavarzi Bank and a Kourosh convenience store.

Honorable merchants in Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Azerbaijan, Tehran, Isfahan, Razavi Khorasan, Ilam, Lorestan, and other provinces went on strike, defying the regime’s threats to burn their shops.
