Successive rebellions in various prisons

Tonight, March 30, prisoners in Ahvaz Prison attempted to escape in fear of the coronavirus. Guards opened fire on the prisoners.  Sound of gunshots was heard for some time, and parts of the prison were set on fire.

“Some prisoners in the two prison blocks of Sepidar Prison in Ahwaz were trying to cause a riot by burning some garbage bins,” said Haidar Abbaszadeh, Khuzestan Province’s criminal chief, e, sent to the scene to crack down on prisoners. “Fortunately, with the timely presence of the security and police forces, the situation in the prison was quickly brought under control,” he said.

Last night, prisoners in Adelabad Prison in Shiraz rebelled. Earlier, prisoners in Hamadan, Mahabad, Greater Tehran, Saqqez, Tabriz, Aligudarz, and Khorramabad prisons had rebelled, during which dozens of the prisoners managed to escape. The prisoners’ rebellion is in protest against the clerical regime’s refusal to release the prisoners at the height of the Coronavirus outbreak. This criminal policy is equivalent to burying alive the prisoners.

On Monday, March 30, 2020, Kazem Mousavi, the regime’s notorious prosecutor of Fars Province, acknowledged, “We have seen unrest in two wards of Adelabad prison in Shiraz since 10:00 pm (local time), yesterday. Prisoners in these wards attempted to break some fences and surveillance cameras. In the two sections, the inmates … are not provided with any equipment and amenities.
