NCRI – Political prisoners in south-eastern Iran have issued a statement condemning the mass execution last week of Sunni political prisoners in Gohardasht Prison, north-west of Tehran.
The political prisoners of Zahedan Prison released a statement condemning the mass execution of at least 25 Sunni political prisoners last week by the “tyrant regime” and offered their condolences to the families of the victims.
The execution happened on the anniversary of the 1988 massacre in Iran in which some 30,000 political prisoners, mainly affiliated to the opposition People’s Mujahedin of Iran (PMOI or MEK), were summarily and extra-judicially executed.
The prisoners called for justice from the international community.
The statement read: “Our brothers were executed for the price of their beliefs. We call on the United Nations and the International Criminal Court to punish the perpetrators of this massacre as soon as possible. We also ask the human rights organizations to prevent the continuation of such crimes.”
