Urgent Call to Save Amin’s Life
The death sentence of 38-year-old political prisoner Amin (Peyman) Farahavar, currently held in Lakan Prison in Rasht, has been upheld once again by the regime’s Supreme Court on charges of ‘Baghi’ (armed rebellion) and ‘Moharebeh’ (enmity against God). With his lawyer’s request for a retrial rejected, Mr. Farahavar is in imminent danger of execution.
In a statement dated May 7, 2025, the Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) announced: ‘On May 1, 2025, the regime’s judiciary sentenced Amin Farahavar to death in the Revolutionary Court of Rasht. Amin is a political prisoner, a supporter of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), and a poet from Gilan province under the pseudonym of Payman. He was sentenced to death in a court session, presided over by the criminal judge Ahmad Darvish-Goftar, without the presence of a lawyer.’
The sentence was subsequently upheld in mid-2025 by Branch 39 of the regime’s Supreme Court, and his lawyer’s request for a retrial was officially rejected in early May 2026.
Mr. Farahavar suffers from severe complications following gallbladder surgery, including intense pain in the surgical area. During his interrogation, he suffered from internal bleeding but has been systematically deprived of vital medical treatment.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the relevant United Nations bodies and all international human rights organizations to take immediate action to save the lives of political prisoners facing death sentences, particularly Amin Farahavar, and to secure their immediate release.
