In the 73rd week of the “Tuesdays for No to Execution” campaign, prisoners in 47 prisons across Iran staged coordinated acts of protest—including hunger strikes—demanding an end to state executions and the immediate release of all political and conscience prisoners. The protest comes amid what activists call a “systematic campaign of state-sanctioned killings” by the clerical dictatorship.
The campaign’s statement warns: “The release of all political and ideological prisoners and the immediate annulment of all death sentences must become a public demand, because the lives of political prisoners and death row inmates are in serious danger. There is concern that the regime, as in the past, may lead them to the gallows to intensify repression and spread fear.”
According to the statement, at least 126 people have been executed since the start of June—12 of them on a single day, June 10. The prisoners described these as “unjust killings,” noting that many occurred without fair trial or public notice. Victims reportedly include religious minorities, impoverished citizens, and political detainees.

The campaign also reported the recent execution of Esmail Fekri, a security detainee allegedly convicted of espionage, who was hanged in Ghezel Hesar Prison on June 16 under total media blackout. It further named Mojahed Korkor, a political prisoner arrested during the 2022 uprising and subjected to two years of imprisonment and torture, who was executed last week.
“Execution is not a punishment; it is a crime,” the campaign statement said. “We condemn all death sentences regardless of charges, and we resist them. These are state-sanctioned murders. We will not forget the victims, we will not stay silent, and we will not back down.”
The campaign draws a grim parallel between war and state repression: “War and executions are two sides of the same coin that strip people of the right to life. The people of Iran have been dragged into a war they never chose. Despite the exceptional and crisis-driven circumstances caused by the war, the machinery of death and slaughter never stops.”

Referring to the broader context of Iran’s conflict with Israel, the statement declared: “Despite the extraordinary and critical situation caused by the war, the machinery of death and killing does not stop for a moment, and the despotic government continues to execute citizens.
The statement also referenced the June 16 massacre at Dizel-Abad Prison in Kermanshah, where, following an Israeli airstrike on nearby military facilities, panicked inmates were met not with evacuation, but gunfire from regime special units. Over 10 were reportedly killed and more than 30 injured in the brutal crackdown.
Activists described the situation as a test for international human rights institutions: “Now, more than ever, the presence and solidarity of the people is critical. You, the conscious and free people, are our only support and our voice. The United Nations and the Special Rapporteur on Iran must act urgently to investigate the conditions inside Dizel-Abad Prison.”

The campaign emphasized that many executions remain hidden from public view, with victims tried without due process and buried in silence.
As the death toll continues to rise, “Tuesdays for No to Execution” has become a symbol of resistance within Iran’s prison system—a weekly act of defiance against a regime determined to crush dissent at any cost.
