Eight Members of Iranian-Backed Militias Killed after Drone Likely to Be American Targeted Their Car Near Syrian-Iraqi Border

sohr logoDeir Ezzor province: The death toll of Iranian-backed militia members of Syrian nationality increased to eight, after three died of wounds they sustained yesterday when a drone, believed to be American, targeted their car, which they were traveling in between the villages of Al-Kashmah and Al-Duweir in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor near the Syrian-Iraqi border. It is noted that this attack comes less than 48 hours after a similar attack that targeted the Kharab Al-Jir base in Al-Hasakah countryside, where US forces failed to foil the attack which was carried by a drone that was launched from Iraq. Joint Statement on the Middle East: 12 August 2024

UK-Gov-logoWe, the leaders of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, welcome the tireless work of our partners in Qatar, Egypt, and the United States toward an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages. We endorse the joint statement of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, President Sisi, and President Biden calling for the immediate resumption of negotiations. We agree that there can be no further delay. We have been working with all parties to prevent escalation and will spare no effort to reduce tensions and find a path to stability. The Conflict Between Hostile Factions Within The Regime Is Intensifying

Masoud Pezeshkian, the regime’s new president, found himself positioned midway between Rouhani and Raisi. His cabinet represents a blend of criminal and corrupt elements from both Raisi’s and Rouhani’s administrations. From the outset, he claimed that his involvement stemmed from his concern over a looming threat to the regime—a threat that has intensified with the growing internal strife among the regime’s warring factions. Pezeshkian himself acknowledged that his primary objective was to implement Khamenei’s policies. Nonetheless, in sharp contrast to the religious dictatorship, the overarching aim of the Iranian people remains the dismantling of Khamenei’s regime and the entire Velayat-e Faqih system, with the ultimate goal of establishing a democratic republic.

The Mullahs Are Sending Iran To The Pre-Constitutional Revolution Era

poverty in Iran protest

Forty-five years after the mullahs usurped the revolution of the Iranian people, economic-social crises on one hand and political and cultural crises on the other have brought Iranian society to the brink of a dreadful precipice. Today, with mega economic challenges, economists warn that we have reverted not just to the pre-Constitutional Revolution era, but even to the pre-Qajar dynasty period.

On July 29, economist Farshad Momeni said, “In this situation, we are falling into the pre-Qajar era, and this is very dangerous. This indicates that the immediate and most profound change affecting our welfare and social security is the restructuring of the institutional framework in favor of production and against profiteers, usurers, brokers, and importers. With the current path, we still witness shocking debates and astonishing neglects in this area.”

Iran is facing a severe climate crisis, with temperatures rising at an alarming rate over the past three decades. According to Mehdi Rahnama, head of the Research Institute of Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences in Iran, the country has experienced a 2.7°C increase in air temperature over the last 30 years. This rise significantly exceeds the 1.5°C limit emphasized by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The unprecedented heat wave in August 2024 has led to widespread blackouts and power cuts across Iran, triggering protests from citizens and business owners. The crisis has also resulted in water shortages in many regions. In response, authorities have reduced working hours and closed offices in more than 15 provinces, highlighting the inability of power plants to meet the surging electricity demand.

Vanguards of Freedom: How Iranian Women and Youth Lead the Charge for Change

In every country, young people are pivotal assets and driving forces for transformation. This is particularly evident in nations oppressed by dictatorships, where youth have historically played a prominent role in advancing freedom struggles. Iran is a prime example of this phenomenon, where Iranian women and youth have consistently been at the forefront of revolutions and freedom movements. This article, marking the International Day of Youths, delves into the crucial role of women and youth in contemporary Iranian history.

The 1979 Revolution, which culminated in the overthrow of the Shah’s dictatorial regime, was initiated by freedom-loving youth and met with overwhelming support from young people and women across Iran. Their activism and fervor were instrumental in challenging the existing order and triumph of the revolution.

However, in its usual practice in such situations, the police force blamed the incident on the injured citizen, stating that she had “fled” from the police.
