Iran’s nationwide uprising marked its 161st day on Thursday, as people in cities throughout Iran staged protests as their economic grievances escalate parallel to the country’s nosediving national currency, the rial, which has lost 100% of its value.

This morning, a large number of residents of Sanandaj, the capital of the western Iranian province of Kurdistan, gathered at Behesht-e Mohammadi, to pay homage to the martyrs of the nationwide uprising in the province.

Locals in Tehran’s different districts, including Fatemi, AmirabadPunakQasroldasht, and Narmak, chanted anti-regime slogans on Wednesday night, including “Death to the dictator!” Similar protests were reported at a metro station where people were also chanting “Death to Khamenei!”

Protesters in Bandar Abbas, a major port city in southern Iran, took to the streets on Wednesday night and launched a nightly demonstration where they were chanting various anti-regime slogans, including: “This is the year Seyed Ali (Khamenei) is overthrown!” and “Our compatriots did not die for us to appease the murderous [Khamenei]!”

Reacting to the continuing protests by various sectors of Iranian society, NCRI President-elect Maryam Rajavi said, “What is happening in the streets of Iran is the continuation of the battle with the same slogans and aspirations as 40 years ago, which is led by brave women, courageous youths, and Resistance Units. It is marching towards the overthrow of the mullahs and a free Iran.”

The state-run Eqtesad 24 wrote on February 20: “When the economic cycles in the country are not viewed in a systematical method, the increase in meat prices to 500,000 and 700,000 tomans is not surprising. But what has happened? To raise livestock, animal feed is needed, and to supply animal feed, money must be paid in US dollars, which is currently priced between 47 and 48 thousand tomans. Therefore, any product that is somehow related to the dollar will experience a price increase. It doesn’t matter if it’s household goods, clothing, shoes, cars, or anything else. But do government officials have a role in these price increases? Of course, they do.”

“According to statistics from responsible organizations, more than 80% of the Iranian people are struggling with poverty in various ways,” the website added. “The consequences of the shortage of meat and protein affect their lives. The underlying economic infrastructure problems in Iran such as sanctions, inflation, mismanagement, etc., need to be solved so that in the short and long term, the suffering people can live an easier life. However, if they are allowed to.”

“Although Salman Rushdie is no longer a living threat, in order to honor this courageous action, a valuable agricultural land of approximately one thousand square meters will be donated during a special ceremony,” Zarei said while also calling on others to kill Mr. Rushdie, he added: “Furthermore, the remaining land will be handed over to those who eliminate the vice. We believe that this ruling should be implemented in any situation and we will use all our power to implement this historical ruling of the Imam.”

Munich e1677098782870 1

The Iran regime’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, and its intelligence service are exploring all possible means to distract the people’s protests and revolution. These efforts are being carried out in several parallel axes.

Firstly, they are promoting the son of Iran’s overthrown Pahlavi dynasty, heavily supporting him through their propaganda, media outlets, and the Ciber Army. Secondly, they conducted a deceptive maneuver by offering amnesty to the prisoners arrested in recent protests. Thirdly, they mobilized their forces for the 1979 revolution ceremony.
