Iran’s Sanctions Bluff Called, Humiliating the Mullahs
The regime ruling Iran has imposed sanctions on 61 more Americans for supporting Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), according to a Reuters citing the Iranian regime’s Foreign Ministry.
Most of the sanctioned American dignitaries long stood against the wrongful and politically motivated designation of the PMOI/MEK as a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department and supported the PMOI/MEK members when Iraqi forces acting under orders of the mullahs’ regime of Iran launched attacks against MEK sites in camps Ashraf and Liberty prior to the completion of their relocation to Albania in 2016.
Iran at the Bottom of the 2022 Global Gender Gap Report Index
The World Economic Forum has published the 2022 Global Gender Gap Report. Iran, under the clerical regime, is at the bottom of the gender gap index, ranking 143 among 146 countries studied.
The main reason for the abysmal ranking is the lack of equal opportunities for women under the mullahs’ misogynous regime. Iceland has the highest world ranking in closing the gender gap.
Concerts, Dancing, and Happiness Viewed as Crimes Under the Mullahs’ Rule
The Iranian regime stepped up its crackdown on women over the past month under the pretext of Hijab. In parallel repressive measures, security forces canceled women’s concerts. They arrested women for dancing in the streets and posting photos without covering their heads on social media. Beyond reflecting the regime’s oppression, this news indicates the defiance of the Iranian people and especially women, of the regime’s laws and coercions in various forms.
Several Arrests at Protest Over Northwest Iran Lake Disaster
The state security forces have arrested at least 16 people at protests over the drying up of Lake Urmia which was once the world’s second-largest salt lake. Reports say dozens have also been summoned by the authorities.
Rahim Jahanbakhsh, the police chief of Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, said on July 17 that several people had been arrested for disturbing security. He described the protesters as “many evil and hostile elements, who had no other objective than to destroy public property and disturb the security of the population,” according to the state-run IRNA news agency.
In Memory of Hero Asghar Nahvipour
In 2017, Iranian society was taken aback by the courage and nobility of unknown athlete Asghar Nahvipour. A video had circulated on social media showing a police officer fatally shooting Asghar. “My life for Iran,” the hero shouted before losing his life.
Despite the severe censorship of the internet in Iran, the news rapidly spread across the country and even abroad. Nahvipour soon became an icon of defiance against the regime’s misogynistic measures, including the Gasht-e Ershad [Guidance Patrols].
