Maryam Rajavi Says ‘Time for Ambiguities Is Over’ in Speech at Italian Parliament: “Let’s Deliver the Final Blow to the Regime in Iran”
The future of Iran cannot be built on compromises made over the bodies of its martyrs. These were the words of Maryam Rajavi, delivered yesterday in the Sala della Regina of the Italian Parliament, cutting through the silence like a necessary outcry. Speaking at the international conference “The Next Iranian Massacre Is Happening in Plain Sight”, organized to denounce the latest wave of political executions by Tehran’s clerical dictatorship, the elected president of the National Council of Resistance of Iran made clear that the time for ambiguity has ended.
“Just three days ago, the religious dictatorship in Iran committed yet another heinous crime: the execution of two members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran. This brutal act is part of an ongoing pattern of repression, a crime against young Iranians whose only fault is their desire for freedom,” Rajavi declared.
The most moving moment came when she invoked the names of 14 PMOI political prisoners currently on death row. “Their names must not be forgotten. Their fate cannot depend solely on the mercy of a dictator. Europe and Italy must act,” she urged.
Iran, the Path of Dialogue and the Possibility of Change: The Initiative in the Italian Chamber of Deputies
“What future is possible for Iran?” This was the question posed in the Sala della Regina of the Chamber of Deputies during a conference promoted by the Fratelli d’Italia party. Titled “The Future of Iran Between Dialogue and Geopolitics”, the event served as an international forum to discuss the geopolitical challenges that, more than ever, place the clerical dictatorship in Iran at the center of global attention, as well as the prospects for dialogue and change in the Middle Eastern country once known as Persia.
Participants included Maryam Rajavi, the elected President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI); Charles Michel, former President of the European Council; and Linda Chavez, former Director of Public Liaison at the White House.

Iran, Gruppioni (FdI): “For a Finally Free and Democratic Iran with Maryam Rajavi”
In the prestigious Sala della Regina of the Chamber of Deputies, on July 30, 2025, the conference “The Future of Iran: Between Dialogue and Geopolitics” took place. The event brought together parliamentarians, activists, scholars, and representatives of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), today considered the main opposition force to Tehran’s theocratic regime.
Among those contributing on behalf of Italian institutions was MP Naike Gruppioni, who emphasized the political importance of the initiative: “The Italian Parliament has a duty to listen to and give space to voices that represent the freedom and dignity of peoples. The National Council of Resistance of Iran is today the leading political force opposing the theocratic regime. This conference aims to send a clear signal: Italy recognizes and closely observes those who propose a democratic, peaceful, and inclusive transition in Iran.”

Sanctions Against Terrorism: Council Renews the EU Terrorist List
The Council decided today to renew the list of persons, groups and entities subject to restrictive measures with a view to combatting terrorism, delisting one deceased person and maintaining the rest unchanged. There are currently 13 persons and 22 groups and entities subject to the restrictive measures in force, which consist of the freezing of funds and other financial assets or economic resources in EU member states. It is also prohibited for EU operators to make funds and economic resources available to those listed.
The EU Terrorist List, i.e. the sanctions regime set out in Common Position 2001/931/CFSP, is separate from the EU regime implementing UN Security Council resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) and targeting Al-Qaida and ISIL/Da’esh.
Sen. Ernst to Newsmax: Iran ‘Stupid’ to Restart Nuke Program
Sen. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, warned Iran against reviving its nuclear program, telling Newsmax on Tuesday it would be “very stupid.”
Ernst joined “Newsline” to react to President Donald Trump’s comments about Iran on Monday, when he told reporters that Iran has been sending “nasty signals” about restarting its nuclear enrichment after the U.S. and Israel bombed Iran last month. Trump said the U.S. would wipe out Iran’s nuclear facilities even faster a second time.
Ernst, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, called the operation a “well-executed, highly orchestrated mission” after taking part in a closed-door hearing on the mission called “Operation Midnight Hammer.”
US Hits Iranian Shipping Network with Major New Sanctions
WASHINGTON, July 30 (Reuters) – The U.S. Treasury Department announced fresh sanctions on Wednesday on over 115 Iran-linked individuals, entities and vessels, in a sign the Trump administration is doubling down on its “maximum pressure” campaign after bombing Tehran’s key nuclear sites in June.
The sanctions broadly target the shipping interests of Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, the son of Ali Shamkhani, who is himself an adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The U.S. Treasury said it was the most significant Iran-related sanctions action since 2018, during President Donald Trump’s first administration.
Overall, the new sanctions target 15 shipping firms, 52 vessels, 12 individuals and 53 entities involved in sanctions evasion in 17 countries, ranging from Panama to Italy to Hong Kong.
Congressmen Cohen and McClintock Condemn the Execution of Iranian Political Prisoners
WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) and Congressman Tom McClintock (CA-5), co-chairs of the Congressional Iran Human Rights and Democracy Caucus, today released the following statement: “In yet another horrifying display of brutality, the Iranian regime has executed two political prisoners—Behrooz Ehsani, 69, and Mehdi Hassani, 48—early on Sunday, July 27. This act of repression underscores the regime’s relentless assault on human rights and its unyielding commitment to suppress dissent.
“These executions, carried out after a sham trial by the regime’s judiciary, were announced with a troubling lack of shame, reflecting the depths of the Iranian government’s disregard for human life and fundamental freedoms.
Iran: Gruppioni (FdI) Says ‘We Stand with Maryam Rajavi for a Free and Democratic Country at Last’
“We are here today in the Chamber of Deputies, in the Sala della Regina, to ask a fundamental question: what future is possible for Iran? It is necessary to reflect on the responsibilities of democratic institutions that have supported and listened to those who fight for rights, justice, and democracy. Maryam Rajavi, here with us today, is a woman democratically elected to lead the National Council of Resistance of Iran. With determination and without resorting to violence, she carries forward a battle to defend fundamental rights.
We stand by her to promote a process of peace, freedom, and security for Iran and its people. As a woman and as a parliamentarian of the Republic, I cannot remain indifferent to this. For this reason, I support Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan so that Iranian civil society can finally live in full equality and dignity, for a secular, free, and democratic Iran. I, and we, stand with Maryam Rajavi.”

Global Condemnation of the Brutal Execution of PMOI Members Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani
In a heinous act of state-sanctioned murder, the clerical regime in Iran has once again revealed its barbaric nature. On the morning of July 27, 2025, the regime’s henchmen executed political prisoners and members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani. This calculated act of terror, aimed at intimidating a restless and defiant population, has ignited a firestorm of international condemnation. Far from projecting strength, these executions have exposed the profound weakness and fear of a regime that sees its own demise in the courage of its political prisoners.
The regime’s crime was met with immediate and widespread outrage from human rights organizations, parliamentarians, and senior political figures across the globe, who united to denounce the killings and the corrupt judicial process behind them.
Iran’s New Internet Crackdown Bill Reveals Regime’s Terror of a Restive Society and Organized Resistance
The government of Masoud Pezeshkian, who branded himself as a moderate, has fast-tracking a draconian new bill aimed at crushing the free flow of information online. The bill, ironically titled “Countering the Spread of False Content in Cyberspace,” was rushed to the regime’s Majlis (parliament) and approved with “double urgency” on July 27. This legislation is not a good-faith effort to combat misinformation. It is a desperate act by a clerical regime besieged by social, economic, and political crises, and terrified of a populace that uses the internet to expose its corruption and organize dissent. This bill is a panicked confession that the regime sees the truth as its greatest enemy.
Khomam, Gilan: Protests Erupt over Repeated Water and Power Outages; Women Lead the Charge
On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, the streets of Khomam in Iran’s Gilan province became the scene of spontaneous public protests — led predominantly by women.
Demonstrators, many of them women at the forefront, chanted slogans such as “Incompetent officials, we don’t want you!” and demanded immediate accountability from local and national authorities. The atmosphere was tense and volatile, reflecting widespread frustration over the government’s chronic mismanagement of essential services.
A day before the protests, a local resident was reportedly arrested for sharing a protest call-out on Instagram — a move that only intensified public outrage instead of quelling it.
MEK Supporters Hold Rally and Exhibition in Paris to Denounce Executions of Iranian Political Prisoners
Paris, France – July 29, 2025 – Supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) organized a rally and exhibition to denounce the execution of MEK political prisoners in Iran.
Iranians in Geneva Protest Execution of MEK Political Prisoners, Demand Justice and End to Impunity
On July 28, 2025, Iranians in Geneva held a protest at Place des Nations, outside the UN headquarters. They gathered to denounce the execution of MEK political prisoners in Iran. The protest was organized by supporters of the Iranian Resistance.
They condemned the killing of Mehdi Hassani and Behrouz Ehsani, both members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). These executions were carried out by the regime in Ghezel Hesar Prison.
Joint Statement Condemning the Executions of Behrouz Ehsani, Mehdi Hassani
The Alliance for the Prevention of Atrocity Crimes alongside The Iran Human Rights Monitor and Justice for the Victims of the 1988 Massacre in Iran (JVMI) are deeply horrified and unequivocally condemn the executions of political prisoners Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani, carried out by the Iranian regime on July 29, 2025. These individuals were unjustly sentenced to death on the fabricated charge of “waging war on God” solely for their membership in the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). These executions represent a grave violation of human rights and a chilling escalation in the Iranian regime’s campaign to silence dissent through fear, intimidation, and state-sanctioned violence.
Trump’s Hardline Against Iran: Navigating the Nation’s Internal Divisions
On Monday, August 6, 2024, U.S. President Donald Trump issued stark warnings regarding Iran’s nuclear program, stating that any attempt by Tehran to resume uranium enrichment would face a swift and decisive U.S. response.
Speaking in Scotland during a meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Trump claimed that recent strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan had “completely destroyed” the country’s nuclear program. He asserted that if the regime persists with enrichment, it would be “wiped out faster than a handshake.” These remarks followed U.S. attacks on July 1, 2024, using B-2 bombers and Tomahawk missiles. However, some sources confirm significant damage only to Fordow, with Natanz and Isfahan sustaining limited impact.
Macroeconomic Imbalances in Iran Reach Critical Levels
In recent years, Iran’s economy has faced profound challenges that can be summed up in one word: “imbalance.” These imbalances—described by some as a form of “bankruptcy”—have manifested in various sectors, from natural resources like water to energy infrastructure and financial markets. One of the clearest signs of imbalance in Iran is the dire state of its water resources. Kaveh Madani, head of the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment and Health, calls the situation not a crisis, but “water bankruptcy.” He argues that a crisis implies a solvable condition, whereas Iran has moved beyond that point and reached an irreversible state. Water rationing in some regions and the severe depletion of water sources are visible signs of this bankruptcy. It is the result of years of mismanagement of water resources, overexploitation of underground reserves, and neglect of environmental sustainability.
Ghaani’s Baghdad Mission: Iran Moves to Tighten Control over Iraqi Proxies Amid Rising Pressures
In the shadow of the recent Israel-Iran conflict and growing regional instability, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps–Quds Force (IRGC-QF) Commander Esmail Ghaani has intensified his efforts to shore up Iran regime’s influence in Iraq. According to regional sources, Ghaani held a series of meetings with Iranian-backed Iraqi Shia factions in recent weeks aimed at tightening control, enforcing discipline, and preempting escalatory retaliation from the militias under Tehran’s umbrella.
Ghaani reportedly met with four top leaders of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in Baghdad on July 27, instructing them to exercise self-restraint despite ongoing tensions. The PMF, while formally integrated into Iraq’s state security apparatus, includes numerous factions that operate as Iranian regime proxies, reporting directly to Tehran rather than Baghdad.
Post-War Power Shuffle in Iran: Regime Factions Rebrand Amid Domestic and Strategic Failures
In the aftermath of the 12-day Israel-Iran war, media outlets closely tied to senior figures in the Iranian regime have launched a coordinated campaign portraying a shift toward moderation, pragmatism, and national unity. But beneath the surface, analysts say this narrative is a strategic rebranding effort—aimed not at reforming the system but at deflecting blame, pacifying unrest, and preserving the status quo.
An op-ed published on July 29 by outlets linked to Supreme Leader adviser Ali Akbar Velayati framed so-called moderates and pragmatic hardliners as crucial for achieving national unity. The piece promoted figures like President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as key actors in maintaining cohesion during the war and emphasized the need for a “transformational force” focused on gradual improvements.
Khamenei’s Hollow Boasts Amid Iran Regime’s Costly Defeat in 12-Day War
In a striking display of denial and ideological bravado, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei described the regime’s widely criticized performance in the recent 12-day war with Israel as a symbol of “unmatched power, endurance, and stability.” Speaking on Tuesday, July 29, during a ceremony marking forty days since the death of Iranian combatants in the war, Khamenei claimed the regime had shown the world its “strong hand” and that “everyone felt the full power of the Islamic Republic up close.”
The remarks stand in stark contrast to admissions by senior officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who confirmed in an interview with Fox News that Iran’s nuclear program suffered “serious and heavy damage” during the conflict and is currently “halted.”
