We Must Support Iran’s Resistance Movement
The escalation in the Middle East raises serious questions and concerns. Just one day before Israel launched its strike on Iran, the UN’s International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted a resolution condemning the Iranian regime’s lack of cooperation with inspectors and its illegal nuclear activities.
The resolution—the first of its kind in nearly 20 years—followed several alarming reports by the IAEA revealing secret nuclear sites, uranium enrichment close to weapons-grade levels, and persistent violations of inspection commitments. According to the resolution, the regime is in breach of its obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty. The next step could see the matter referred to the UN Security Council with demands for further action against the regime.
Iran’s Opposition Says There’s Only One Way to Stop Rogue State – And It’s Not War
Antonio López-Istúriz White, a Spanish politician and Member of the European Parliament, warned Europeans had become soft after 80 years of peace and refused to see clear and present dangers coming down the tracks.
At a special meeting at the Parliament in Strasbourg today, convened to allow leader of Iran’s de facto opposition Maryam Rajavi address delegates, Mr. López-Istúriz White said: “I have stated in the European Parliament to colleagues who are a little lost that after Israel the next target would be Europe.
Mrs Rajavi is the President Elect and lead member of the National Council for Resistance in Iran – a movement dedicated to ridding Iran of its theocractic dicatator Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and installing Western-style democracy.
She warned that the West’s 40-year policy of appeasing the mullahs had been disastrous and added: “Twenty-one years ago, I stood in this very parliament and declared that the solution for Iran lies neither in appeasement nor in war, but in a third option: regime change by the people of Iran and the organised resistance.

Iran: Maryam Rajavi, Opposition Leader, Calls on Europeans for Support
The Iranian theocracy came under unprecedented pressure on Wednesday, as Israel continued its strikes, the United States ramped up its military presence in the region, and Donald Trump, while demanding the regime’s “unconditional surrender,” left open the possibility of U.S. intervention. In this context, Maryam Rajavi, the leader of the main organized Iranian opposition group, called on the European Union and its member states to “recognize the legitimacy of the Resistance.” According to her, “the solution to this war lies in the overthrow of the regime and regime change by the Iranian people and their Resistance.”
Iranian Opposition Head: People of Iran ‘Demand Freedom,’ Only ‘Regime Change’ Can Deliver it
The leader of the opposition group National Council of Resistance of Iran told European lawmakers that lasting peace in the Middle East hinges on “regime change by the people of Iran and the organized resistance,” asserting it is up to Iranians — not foreign powers — to topple the Islamic Republic, as Israel intensifies its unprecedented campaign of airstrikes against Tehran.
“The crisis of overthrow has now engulfed the entire clerical dictatorship — a reality that is visible to all,” declared Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), during her address to Members of the European Parliament on Wednesday.

Conference at the European Parliament Strasbourg-Building a Genuine Modern Democracy
Maryam Rajavi’s speech: “Honorable Members of the European Parliament, esteemed dignitaries, It is a great pleasure to be with you at the home of the peoples of Europe. I sincerely thank you for being here today, united in your commitment to human rights, resistance, and the freedom of Iran. The war that began at dawn on Friday, June 13, marks the onset of a critical phase in the situation in Iran and the broader regional developments.
“I must emphasize that the primary war, which has been ongoing for 44 years—precisely since June 20, 1981—is the struggle of the Iranian people and their resistance against the theocratic fascist regime. The only solution to this conflict is the overthrow of this regime by the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance.”
Iran: June 20 Uprising, A Peaceful Protest That Turned Bloody
On June 20, 1981, the streets of Tehran overflowed with hope and determination. More than 500,000 Iranians—from students to workers, from mothers to daughters—marched to demand democracy and human rights. But the peaceful protest met with a violent response. Khomeini’s Revolutionary Guards opened fire, turning the streets into scenes of chaos and bloodshed.
That massacre became a turning point in Iran’s resistance movement. A day of hope became the beginning of a decades-long fight for freedom, which is the main conflict going on for 44 years.
Nuclear Facilities Buried Deep Underground While Iranians Are Left Defenseless Against Bombings
The Iranian regime continues to preserve and protect its nuclear facilities deep underground, while leaving ordinary Iranians exposed and without shelter in the face of rising threats. Amid growing tensions and crises across the country, the people of Iran are enduring immense suffering. As Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s government pours vast national resources into the development and expansion of its atomic program in secret underground locations, ordinary citizens are directed to makeshift shelters in mosques, schools, and metro stations — a stark sign of neglect and disregard for public safety.
This clear contrast has sparked deep anger and resentment among the Iranian population.
Iranian Political Prisoner Ali Younesi Transferred from Evin Prison to an Unknown Location
Aida Younesi, sister of Ali Younesi—a top student at Sharif University and a political prisoner—announced on her X account today, Wednesday, June 18, that agents of the Ministry of Intelligence forcibly abducted her brother from Ward 4 of Evin Prison and transferred him to an unknown location. She expressed deep concern, writing: “My mother is having seizures from worry. We don’t know where they have taken Ali.”
Aida described this act as “shamelessness” and a sign of the regime’s “rage and resentment” toward political prisoners.
Ali Younesi, a gold medalist in the International Astronomy Olympiad and a computer engineering student at Sharif University, was arrested in March 2020 along with Amir Hossein Moradi on charges of “links with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK)” and “spreading corruption on Earth.” In 2022, he was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
A look into the background of Ali Shademani, commander of the IRGC Central Headquarters
Major General Ali Shademani, a senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has a long history of suppressing the Iranian people and committing human rights violations. Ali Shademani joined the IRGC in 1979. He was an active member during the Iran-Iraq war and served as the commander of the Ansar al-Hossein Division 32 from 1986 to 1988. Shademani first met Hossein Hamedani—an IRGC commander who was killed in Syria in 2015 as part of the Iranian regime’s intervention in the country—shortly after the 1979 revolution in the city of Hamedan. This relationship eventually led to terrorist operations outside Iran’s borders, including in Syria and Iraq.
After the revolution, Ali Shademani accompanied Hamedani to the city of Paveh to suppress the people of Kurdistan. Shademani then spent six months in Sanandaj and Saqqez engaged in violent crackdowns and killings of Kurds in the region.
