France Hosts “Youth Gathering”: Generational Continuity in Iran’s Struggle for Freedom… and a Growing Social Base

At a youth event titled “Generational Continuity in the Struggle for Freedom,” hosted in France, a central message emerged: the rebellious young generation is the decisive force in organization and sacrifice, and together with previous generations, “will uproot the rule of the Supreme Leader.”

Tributes were paid to the brave members of the Resistance Units inside Iran and to their supporters across the European diaspora, who have provided a safe platform and an international voice for the Iranian people’s cause.

In her speech, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi responded to the regime’s propaganda claiming that the resistance lacks a popular base, saying that the allies sought by the mullahs—the Basij militia, so-called “reformist” fronts, and the shadow apparatus—have never been and will never be our base. “The base of the resistance is the people themselves and the ‘generation of freedom,’” she said, adding that “the pride of the MEK is that several generations stand shoulder to shoulder, and our ranks grow day by day.”

Holding the gathering in Paris allowed for wider media coverage and strengthened coordination with French and European human-rights organizations, enhancing protection for activists and accelerating the internationalization of the movement’s demands inside Iran.

WASHINGTON — Today, Treasury Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John K. Hurley will travel to Europe and Middle East. Under Secretary Hurley’s trip is focused on working with a number of key partners to implement President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign against Iran and increase safeguards to further restrict terrorist groups from gaining access to the global financial system.  Under Secretary Hurley will work with partners to effectively implement and enforce United Nations sanctions and measures that were reimposed as a result of Iran’s failure to meet its international obligations.

“President Trump has made clear that Iran’s destabilizing and terrorist activities must be met with sustained and coordinated pressure,” said Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence John K. Hurley. “I look forward to meeting with our partners to coordinate our efforts to deny Tehran and its proxies the financial access they rely on to evade international sanctions, fund violence, and undermine stability in the region.”

Impunity for Perpetrators of Journalist Repression: A Systematic Violation of Justice and Freedom of Expression

AI-generated image: A microphone wrapped in chains — symbolizing censorship and the regime’s use of recruited journalists to suppress truth and push its security-driven narrative

November 2 marks the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists — a day established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013 to emphasize the duty of states to investigate, prosecute, and punish those responsible for crimes against members of the press. While press freedom faces growing threats worldwide, in Iran, impunity for crimes against journalists has become an entrenched feature of the ruling system and a deliberate instrument of repression. According to UNESCO data, since 2006, 85% of journalist murders worldwide have gone unpunished. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) ranks Iran among the top ten countries with the highest levels of impunity in crimes against journalists — a clear indication that not only are journalists under constant threat, but justice itself is systematically denied.

The Iranian Regime’s Mafia, Khamenei’s Wealth, and the IRGC’s Smuggling Operations

Jonathan W. Hackett, a former U.S. Marine Corps intelligence officer, said that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) controls the entire black market—from iPhone and car smuggling to luxury imports—making it its primary source of income. This shadow economy has not only boosted the financial empire of regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei and the IRGC but has also placed additional pressure on the Iranian people. Hackett, who has worked with the National Security Agency (NSA), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and U.S. Special Operations Command, said in a podcast by the Baykam Institute that the U.S. withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal (JCPOA) and the reimposition of sanctions concentrated financial resources in the IRGC’s hands. He noted that Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran’s regime, is now among the wealthiest individuals in the world.

poverty Household Income and Consumption iran in Tehran

On October 31, Iranian state-affiliated media offered a rare and stark picture of the country’s economic breakdown: food inflation nearing 100 percent, tens of millions living in absolute poverty, and new government plans to cut subsidies from millions more citizens. According to official figures from the Statistical Center of Iran, food and beverage prices surged to record levels in October. Bread and cereals rose by 98 percent, fruits by 94 percent, and vegetables by 77 percent. The report acknowledged that the poorest households are under unbearable pressure as basic goods become unaffordable. Hadi Mousavi-Nik, a researcher at the Iranian Parliament’s Research Center, admitted that around 26 million Iranians now live in absolute poverty—well above global averages—and more than four million cannot afford basic daily food.
