Canada Announces New Iran Sanctions Amid Protests Over Mahsa Amini Death

Canada has imposed additional sanctions on six Iranian individuals and four entities for participating in or enabling human rights violations against women and spreading propaganda, Global Affairs Canada said on Wednesday.

This is Canada’s third package of sanctions against Iran due to “its ongoing gross and systematic human rights violations and continued actions to destabilize regional peace and security,” a press release stated.

Latest Updates on Iran Uprising

More than a month into the nationwide uprising, the youth in Iran are increasingly committing to more daring actions against everything what the state deems sacred. Whether by burning down posters of officials or attacking state buildings, they are putting their lives at risk to keep the fire of the uprising aflame.

Today, October 19, marking the 34th day of the nationwide uprising, the Iranian youth continued to protest in different cities and provinces.

In the capital, Tehran, people blocked a major street by lighting fire and started shouting slogans. At the end of Shariati Street in Tehran, people started demonstrations and shouted death to Khamenei.

Calls for the death of the dictator and the death of Khamenei could also be heard in Tehran-Pars District.

There have been reports about the uprising and demonstrations of the people in Arak and Ahvaz, whose images were not provided due to the severe internet disruptions.

Meanwhile, the people in many cities in Kurdistan continued the strike and did also pour the streets at night to call for regime change and the end of tyranny.

Some footage and reports indicate that the youths in Sanandaj have taken over the city’s Nabovat Square and are shouting slogans against the regime. In Dehgolan, the youths and women of this region started demonstrations by blocking the streets. They came to the street shouting death to Khamenei and death to the dictator.

IAEA Chief Hopes to Return to Ukraine ‘Soon’ Over Nuclear Plant Talks

BUENOS AIRES, Oct 18 (Reuters) – International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi expects to return “soon” to Ukraine, he told Reuters on Tuesday, amid negotiations to establish a security protection zone around the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.

Grossi has been the go-between from Moscow to Kyiv in an effort to establish a nuclear safety and security protection zone around the plant, which has been hit by power outages in the past weeks due to shelling of the site.

Brussels Readies New Iran Sanctions Over Drones Sold to Russia

The EU is planning to sanction multiple Iranian individuals and entities within the coming days over arms sales to Russia, four officials and diplomats told POLITICO’s Brussels Playbook. The move comes amid reports that Russia has used Iranian drones to strike civilian targets in Ukraine and may soon receive precision-guided Iranian missiles. According to U.S. intelligence cited by the New York Times, Tehran has also been sending drone trainers to Russian-occupied Crimea.

Us Says Iranian Drones Breach Sanctions

On Oct. 17, so-called “kamikaze” drones believed to be Iranian-made but released by Russia struck Kyiv.

According to the U.S. State Department, the U.S. concurs with the French and British that the drones are a violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231. This resolution, which is connected to the nuclear deal with Iran, prohibits Iran from transferring specific military technologies.

Iranian Regime’s Attorney General Threatens Detained Protesters with Capital Punishment

Following the mass arrests of protesters during the ongoing nationwide uprising in Iran, the regime’s Attorney General showed teeth today, threatening arrestees with capital punishment.

“We will firmly deal with the rioters and those who have led these riots. Once considered as Mohareb [waging war on God] they will get what our [Sharia] law proscribes for them,” the state-run Jahan-e Sanat daily quoted Mohammad Jafar Montazeri as saying on October 19.

Montazeri also expressed his utter fear of the leading Iranian opposition, Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK), and the organization’s impact on Iran’s volatile society. He also desperately tried to paint protesters as “foreign countries’ elements.”

Live Report: Iran’s Protesters Remain Steadfast in the Streets as Revolution Enters 33rd Day

Iran’s uprising is entering its marking 33rd day on Tuesday as anti-regime protests continue with protesters continuously taking to the streets.

Protests in Iran have to this day expanded to 193 cities. Over 400 people have been killed and more than 20,000 are arrested by the regime’s forces, according to sources of Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).  The names of 224 killed protesters have been published by the PMOI/MEK.

Protest rallies were also held in Rasht and Tabriz. Also in Tehran, the students of the Arts College gather for a meaningful performance of Iran’s ancient national anthem. This is in defiance of the national anthem of the mullahs’ regime.

Asra Panahi, 15, Lost Her Life When Beaten by Plainclothes Agents

The NCRI Women’s Committee had already reported the death of a young schoolgirl in Ardabil. She lost her life after plainclothes agents attacked a high school, beating the girls and arresting some 19 students. Since then, more details have surfaced.

The Coordination Council of Teachers’ Associations confirmed the death of the girl who lost her life due to internal bleeding on Monday. She was Asra Panahi and 15 years old (pictured above). The statement added that another student was in a coma.

Brave Iranians Continue Their Nationwide Uprising – Day 33

Thousands of people are already in custody because of the protests in Iran. Most have no official right to legal assistance. The regime security forces are also arresting the lawyers.

Most of the demonstrators who have been arrested have not yet been entitled to lawyers. Not even their families are informed about the whereabouts of those arrested. The demonstrators did not take a dialogue proposal by the regime’s judiciary towards its opponents seriously.
