NCRI – Mr. Ali Moezzi, a political prisoner in Evin Prison, has gone on a hunger strike to protest the arrest of the families of political prisoners and in support of his cellmate Mr. Omid Ali Shenas.
Two of Mr. Moezzi daughters are members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) currently in Camp Liberty, Iraq, where Iranian dissidents live. Mr. Moezzi is held in Ward 8 of the dreaded Evin Prison.
In his communiqué dated November 25 he writes in protest to the arrest of relatives and supporters of the political prisoners:
“On Saturday, 21 November 2015, a gathering by the supporters and relatives of political prisoners in front of Evin Prison was prevented and officers brutally attacked this helpless assembly battering and arresting 30 of them.
“A number of the arrested mothers and women were transferred to Qerchak Varamin Prison while the men were transferred to Evin.
“Those arrested are ordinary and hardworking people in the society and they are languishing in prison for several days now without having committed any crime.
“Surely, in confronting the deprived people and the parents of prisoners, the regime will just reap a storm. To the awe of the demons of tyranny, the day that the gates and walls of prisons are torn down and the prisoners are embraced by the Iranian people in victory is not far away.”
