Prominent American constitutional lawyer Professor Alan Dershowitz issued a strong statement of support for the Iranian Resistance this week, warning that the clerical regime in Tehran has reached a historic tipping point — more dangerous than ever to the world, yet more vulnerable than ever to collapse from within.
Speaking in solidarity with supporters of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Dershowitz praised the movement as one of the most impactful democratic forces in the Middle East.
“What a great honor and privilege it is to speak to some of the bravest people in the world today,” he said. “Your organization, headed by the unbelievable and brave and bold Mrs. Rajavi, has sacrificed so much in the interest of bringing about justice and peace.”
Dershowitz emphasized that the Iranian regime cannot be trusted under any circumstances, recalling its past violations of international nuclear agreements: “Despite the fact that the regime misused religion by announcing that it had a fatwa against the use of nuclear weapons, we know for a fact it was developing them. We know this from intelligence provided by this wonderful organization.”

He warned of the dual threat the regime poses: “This is a regime that is extraordinarily dangerous, at the same time that it is extraordinarily vulnerable.”
On the current negotiations between Tehran and Washington, Dershowitz noted: “The United States has made it clear they prefer a non-military solution. But also that they will not accept, under any circumstances, an Iranian regime with nuclear weapons. And this time, it seems they really mean it.”
He pointed out that the regime’s greatest fear is the loss of its nuclear deterrent, which could pave the way for its overthrow: “The Iranians say if we have to give up our nuclear weapons, that makes us more vulnerable to regime change. That’s good. That’s good.”
Importantly, Dershowitz distinguished the Iranian Resistance from other movements by highlighting its commitment to self-reliance: “They have never asked the United States for armed intervention — only for the right to fight their own battles.”
“I completely support the attempt to get the Senate to pass a bill — and hopefully the entire Congress — that recognizes the right of the Resistance Units who fight against the Revolutionary Guard to overthrow the regime,” Dershowitz stated, emphasizing the legitimacy of internal resistance as a pathway to regime change.

“None of us will rest until we see democracy, republic, freedom, and elections. And we know what the result of elections would be,” he said. “Can you imagine what would happen to the world if there were an Iranian Republic of the kind that Mrs. Rajavi has talked about? A free republic with great institutions of learning, great academic institutions, which can share its magnificent technological advantages with the world.”
“We have to remember that there’s no returning to the past — we have to look to the future,” Dershowitz stressed. “The bright future is what Mrs. Rajavi has pointed out in her ten-point program, which every person in the world should read.”
Reflecting on Mrs. Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for a democratic, secular republic, he described it as a blueprint for global progress: “Every person in the world should read it. If Iran could be turned into that 10-point program, what a beautiful world we could live in.”
In closing, Dershowitz pledged his lifelong commitment to the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom: “As long as the good Lord gives me the strength to fight for justice… I will support this cause. And I hope we all live long enough to see regime change and an Iran with free speech, free elections, and freedom of conscience.”
