In a significant show of international solidarity with the Iranian people’s struggle for democratic change, a majority of Argentina’s Chamber of Deputies has signed a statement backing the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and its President-elect Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for a free, secular, and democratic Iran. The declaration—“Iran 2025 Statement”—was announced on June 30 and includes the signatures of 130 lawmakers from all major political parties.
Among the signatories are:
- Three Vice Presidents of Parliament,
- 29 committee chairs, including those for Foreign Affairs and Defense,
- Nine parliamentary faction or party leaders,
- 21 members of the Foreign Affairs Committee,
- As well as former vice presidents, past defense, interior, and education ministers, and former speakers of parliament.
The statement calls for:
- Designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization,
- Recognition of the right of Iranian Resistance Units to confront the IRGC,
- And official support for the Iranian people’s right to overthrow the clerical dictatorship and replace it with a democratic republic.
“Standing with the Iranian people who seek regime change is not only a sound policy—it is a moral imperative,” the Argentine parliamentarians wrote. “The people of Iran and their organized resistance must be placed at the center of any principled approach to Iranian affairs.”
The lawmakers echoed the platform of Iran’s democratic opposition, which is built on the slogans “No to compulsory hijab, no to compulsory religion, no to compulsory government” and “No to executions.”

The statement emphasized the Iranian people’s rejection of all forms of dictatorship—monarchic or theocratic—particularly through the nationwide uprising of 2022 and the total boycott of the regime’s sham presidential election.
Citing the clerical regime’s ongoing repression, including the death sentences of nine political prisoners in late 2024 for supporting the PMOI/MEK, the declaration stated: “With all political paths blocked by the regime, the right of the Iranian people to change the regime—and the right of the Resistance Units to fight the IRGC—must be recognized.”
It further condemns the regime’s use of regional proxies and proxy wars as part of its survival strategy and denounces the “Hijab and Chastity” law as a tool of state control in direct opposition to democratic values.
“The regime’s reliance on Hezbollah and the collapse of Syria’s dictatorship have deeply weakened Tehran. As Syria showed, these regimes are far more fragile than their propaganda suggests. Appeasement and investment in them are both morally indefensible and politically reckless.”
The Argentine Congress joins a growing list of legislative bodies around the world endorsing the NCRI and Maryam Rajavi’s democratic roadmap. In June 2024 alone, over 4,000 lawmakers and more than 100 former heads of state and government endorsed the Ten-Point Plan.
The lawmakers concluded: “We call on all democratic governments to support the Iranian opposition’s vision for a secular republic, gender equality, abolition of the death penalty, and separation of religion and state—values at the heart of Maryam Rajavi’s plan and the Iranian people’s struggle.”
