Iran: Demonstrations by Supporters of the NCRI in European Capitals

On October 1, in solidarity with the uprising of the Iranian people, Iranians living in Europe, supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran and the People’s Mojahedin Organization, started demonstrations in several European capitals. They called on the international community to recognize the legitimate right of the Iranian people to resist and overthrow the clerical regime that occupied their country.

Nearly 200 cities in all 31 provinces of Iran have witnessed an unprecedented uprising against the regime in the past 16 days. Despite the brutal repression that has so far killed at least 400 demonstrators and while more than 20,000 demonstrators have reportedly been arrested, the uprising of the Iranian people has continued.

In many scenes, young women have been leading the fight and organizing dissent. On Friday, a large number of defenseless citizens were killed and wounded by security forces during the public demonstrations in Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchistan province (southeast of the country). So far, at least 46 demonstrators in Zahedan have been confirmed killed.

In Paris, Iranians gathered in front of the Iranian regime’s embassy, not far from the Eiffel Tower. Chanting slogans like “Death to the dictator” and “Death to Khamenei”, they condemned the bloody suppression of the Iranian people’s uprising by the mullahs’ regime and demanded that the Iranian state officials be held accountable for these crimes. Demonstrators also called for a closure of the regime’s embassy which has been “a nest of espionage”.

In the Paris rally, representatives of the French Parliament joined the demonstrators in solidarity with the uprising of the Iranian people.

French parliament members, including Cécile Rilhac and Caroline Yadan, of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French National Assembly, and Constance Le Grip, of the Finance Committee, attended the event and spoke in solidarity with the uprising of the Iranian people.

In Sweden, Iranians gathered in Stockholm downtown, and with slogans of “Khamenei is a murderer, his government is illegitimate” and “Death to Khamenei”, they echoed the cries of the Iranian youth inside Iran.

Referring to yesterday’s bloody crackdown of the people’s demonstration in Zahedan, the demonstrators chanted: “Zahedan, Zahedan, condolence, condolence” and expressed their heartfelt admiration for their southeastern compatriots. The demonstrators then marched through Stockholm in solidarity with the uprising of the Iranian people.

The last message of NCRI President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi to the people of Zahedan was read to the demonstrators in European capitals.

In Berlin, Iranians started protesting in front of Humboldt University. Attending the rally, Leo Dastbnerg, a former member of the German parliament, said: “We have a responsibility for the status-quo. The martyrs of this uprising motivate us to fight for freedom and democracy. The regime always claimed that there was no resistance in Iran. But now the resistance goes on inside Iran. Mrs. Rajavi’s 10-point plan is a modern plan to establish a democratic republic in a free Iran, a republic based on the separation of religion and state.”

Uniting with demonstrators in Iranian cities, the demonstrators in Berlin chanted: “Death to the tyrant, be it the king or the leader.”

The Iranian Resistance’s rallies in Berlin, Stockholm, and Paris took place along with large-scale and unprecedented demonstrations of Iranians abroad in various cities in the world held in solidarity with the uprising of the Iranian people.
