As the anniversary of the major Iran protests approaches, and amid domestic and international pressures, Iran’s state media reflected the clerical regime’s ultimate fear of the resistance movement.
The state-run media outlets have particularly expressed fear over the leading role of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and its Resistance Units during the November 2019 uprising.
In an article on Tuesday, the state-run Resalat daily wrote: “In general, 2019 was one of the most important historical points since the Islamic revolution [in 1979].”
“Since the spring of 2019, the trend of developments accelerated. The combination of external pressure, insecurity at the borders, conflicts in the Persian Gulf, and the rising currency rate, resulting in economic and living challenges, made 2019 a special year,” Resalat wrote.
“In the middle of the very same year [2019], whispers of a gasoline price hike were heard, which turned into reality in November and sparked the powder keg [in Iran’s society]. Increasing the fuel price had not been possible for several years. Yet, this important event took place in 2019 at the height of people’s economic problems,” Resalat wrote, referring to the event which led to the November uprising.
“Organized cadres had long been active in abusing the environment of discontent and possible protests inside Iran. November 2019 prepared the ground for [these cadres] to enter the scene. In many of the [MEK] ‘Resistance’ and ‘Protest’ units, notable people were present,” Resalat wrote, referring to the role of the MEK’s Resistance Units.
During the November uprising, many of the regime’s centers of oppression were destroyed by defiant youth. “Destruction reached one of the highest levels in three decades in small towns and suburbs [across Iran],” Resalat wrote.
Calling people’s uprising “sedition,” Resalat wrote: “The November sedition was not extinguished at the same point. It was the beginning of a series of wider riots and the eventual disabling of the security, intelligence, and law enforcement agencies to create deep instability and insecurity inside Iran.”
“It can be said that November [uprising] provided one of the main grounds for the assassination of Haj Qassem Soleimani [IRGC Quds Force Commander] and Abu Mehdi Al-Mohandas in Iraq, in January,” Resalat wrote.
Warning the regime of a popular uprising, Resalat wrote: “It seems that soon, the enemies will seek to carry out parts of the conspiracy. Therefore, along with vigilance and confrontation with internal and external seditions, [the regime’s officials] should consider raising public awareness.”
The NCRI’s recent revelation of the regime’s nuclear activities is another issue in the regime’s media. The NCRI’s newest revelation on October 18 was a major blow to the regime.
In this regard, the state-run Mardom Salari daily on Tuesday wrote: “Simultaneous with [Mohammad Javad] Zarif’s trip to Moscow and meeting with [Sergey] Lavrov and Lavrov’s extensive contacts with Berlin, Paris, and London had prepared the ground for this heavy line-up [against the U.S.], in the most critical moments that this line-up was about to take shape, the MEK put its allegations on the table.”
The NCRI had revealed: “New information received from sources within the Iranian regime reveals that a new center has been built to continue its work for weaponization of the Iranian regime’s nuclear program. Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (Sazman-e Pazhouheshhaye Novin-e Defa’i), known by its Persian acronym SPND, is the institution within the Ministry of Defense pursuing this project. The IRGC heavily controls the Ministry of Defense.”

According to the NCRI, “The location of this new site is north of Khojir site, which is the largest complex manufacturing ballistic missiles for the Hemmat Missile Industry and Bakeri Missile Industry.”
“Thus, the JCOPA notwithstanding, the Ministry of Defense and the IRGC have maintained their capabilities to build nuclear weapons,” NCRI announced during its newest revelation on October 18.
In this regard, Mardom Salari wrote: “The international front, with EU, Russia, and China in its center, against the U.S. policies toward [the regime] suddenly stopped and has been forgotten until now. Moreover, even the European media widely covered the [MEK] conference, pouring fuel on [the MEK’s] diplomatic sedition.”
Recent articles by the regime’s media outlets are in line with the mullahs’ incessant fear of the Iranian Resistance movement. The regime’s fear has escalated since the major Iran protest in 2019, and as time goes by, the possibility of another popular uprising strengthens, further terrifying the regime.
