Brussels, March 19, 2026 — A significant demonstration took place today at Place Schuman in front of the European Union headquarters, where supporters of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Kurdish, Arab, Azeri, and Baluchi activists gathered to press European leaders for recognition of the NCRI’s provisional government.
The rally, held amid the ongoing EU summit and coinciding with Nowruz celebrations, drew participants from various segments of the Iranian diaspora. Representatives from ethnic communities joined in calls for a secular democratic republic and an end to both monarchical and clerical rule.
In her address to the Brussels rally, NCRI President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi called on the gathering of Iranian exiles and supporters to demand that the European Union recognize the NCRI’s provisional government as the mechanism to transfer sovereignty to the Iranian people. She described the demonstration as a powerful expression of the nation’s rejection of both the clerical regime and any restored monarchy, insisting that Iranians seek only peace, freedom, and a democratic republic. Mrs. Rajavi presented the NCRI’s Ten-Point Plan as the foundation for this transitional government, offering a clear alternative to dictatorship in all forms amid Iran’s ongoing crisis.

Mrs. Rajavi condemned four decades of Western appeasement, which she said has enabled the regime’s nuclear ambitions, brutal repression, and regional aggression. She urged EU leaders to reverse course by securing the release of political prisoners, expelling IRGC agents from Europe, closing regime embassies, and formally recognizing the NCRI provisional government. Highlighting the regime’s fear of the organized resistance—including Resistance Units and the National Liberation Army—she stressed the growing unity among Iran’s ethnic groups under the NCRI platform and predicted an approaching “springtime of freedom” driven by the Iranian people’s sacrifices and determination.
The rally coincided with Iranian New Year celebrations and carried a clear political message directed at EU policymakers. Demonstrators called for official recognition of the NCRI’s announced provisional government, positioned as a transitional authority to transfer sovereignty to the Iranian people based on a outlined democratic framework. Chants and signage rejected both monarchical and clerical rule, emphasizing a push for a secular, democratic republic.

Live video streams from the event captured the atmosphere, showing participants actively engaging throughout the morning hours. The gathering served as a direct appeal to European leaders to shift away from previous approaches toward Tehran and instead align with the organized Iranian opposition movement.
International media presence was notable, with footage of the rally broadcast live and shared widely online. The event highlighted ongoing diaspora activism aimed at influencing European policy on Iran amid broader regional tensions.
As the day progressed, participants continued to voice demands for stronger international measures against the current Iranian regime and support for the resistance’s vision of a free Iran. The rally concluded as planned, leaving a strong visual and symbolic impression of solidarity in the heart of the EU quarter.
