Iran: Three IRGC members killed in Syria fighting for Assad regime

NCRI – Three more members of the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) who were killed last week in clashes in Syria have been buried in Iran.

A state-run website close to IRGC announced on August 6th three members of this force after being dispatched to Syria were killed in fighting against Assad opponents.

The Javan daily wesite commemorates IRGC members killed in Syria as “Defenders of the Haram”, emphasizing they were killed on August 5th of this year in the Syria clashes.

The mullahs’ regime, in an attempt to cloak the presence of IRGC members in Syria, names these members as Defenders of the Haram, referring to the sacred shrine of Zeinab, the granddaughter of Prophet Mohammed, located near Damascus.

Javan daily has named these individuals as “Ali Asghar Shenaei, Mehdi Khorasani and Amir Kazemzadeh”, saying their expertise was “working with tanks”.

According to this report in this daily, these three IRGC members were flown to Syria on May 20th, and on August 5th they were hit by a missile while “working on a tank”.

The news of IRGC members being killed comes at a time when Hassan Rohani, the mullahs’ president, during his meeting with the Syrian prime minster on August 4th said “no power will disrupt our relations with Syria”.

During the past year the National Council of Resistance of Iran has issued numerous statements revealing the widespread presence of IRGC commanders and troops in Syria.
